Summary: The medical school experience has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are constantly switching between online and offline classes, unable to eat lunch inside the school, and facing the challenge of eating outside in the cold. Lockers have been eliminated to prevent the spread of germs, and social activities like team sports and school trips have been canceled. Students are feeling isolated and long for a return to normalcy, all while dealing with the repetition of wearing masks and sanitizing.

Takeaways:

🎭 Embrace the flexibility: Adapt to the changing circumstances of online and offline classes, and find ways to make the most out of both learning environments.

🍱 Get creative with meals: Explore alternative options to safely eat outside when lunch cannot be consumed inside the school. Consider meal-prepping or finding warm outdoor spaces with proper social distancing.

🔒 Practice good hygiene habits: With the absence of lockers, make sure to consistently sanitize personal belongings and maintain a clean workspace to minimize the spread of germs.

👥 Foster connections: Find ways to connect with classmates, whether through online platforms or small, safe meet-ups. Support one another during these challenging times to alleviate feelings of isolation.

🌍 Be patient for normalcy: Understand that the situation is temporary and that the medical school experience will eventually return to some level of normalcy. Stay focused on your goals and remember that this challenging period will make you a more resilient healthcare professional.

😷 Prioritize safety measures: Take responsibility for your own health and the health of others by diligently wearing masks and following proper sanitization protocols. Practice these habits consistently to protect yourself and the community.
