Admission requirements
For Fall 2026, the official checklist required at least 60 units of transferable post-secondary study and two Fall/Winter academic years with 30 units in each. It listed a minimum overall GPA of 3.3 and required coursework in general and organic chemistry, cell biology, English, statistics, microbiology, introductory biochemistry and human physiology. Those are prior-cycle requirements until Alberta publishes the Fall 2027 checklist. Alberta DDS Fall 2026 checklist
The prior process also required Personal Experiences, a Canadian DAT, Casper and English-language evidence when applicable. The live page lists minimum Canadian DAT scores of 15 in Survey of Natural Sciences, Perceptual Ability and Reading Comprehension, but applicants should confirm the Fall 2027 test code, validity window and receipt dates in the next checklist. Important dates
For the prior Fall 2026 intake, applications were accepted from July 1 through November 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MT. Personal Experiences were due November 1, and an unofficial transcript showing Fall/Winter registration was due November 15. Alberta DDS Fall 2026 checklist
The prior checklist set January 2, 2026 for Casper results, January 15, 2026 for Canadian DAT results, February 1, 2026 for an unofficial transcript with fall grades and winter registration, and June 15, 2026 for final official transcripts. Offers were expected from May through July 2026. Do not roll these dates forward to Fall 2027. Alberta DDS Fall 2026 timeline
How selection works
The university's official DDS tip sheet for the Fall 2026 intake described the applicant profile as academic performance, Canadian DAT, Casper, Personal Experiences, the personal interview and the personal statement. It said interview selection used DAT, Casper and Personal Experiences evidence. Alberta DDS Fall 2026 tip sheet
Alberta has not published Fall 2027 numeric weights, interview-selection thresholds or final-ranking rules. The live admissions page says competitive applicants are interviewed and lists the qualities assessed. Its selection area also contains an unrelated Dental Assisting passage; because that passage is about a different program, do not use it to interpret DDS selection. Alberta DDS admissions
Interview details
Confirmed
The live DDS admissions page describes the latest published interview format as a Multiple Mini Interview. It says each station lasts 10 minutes: two minutes to read and prepare, followed by eight minutes of discussion with an interviewer. It also describes a written personal statement on the same day and says shortlisted applicants are normally emailed by the end of February. The page does not label these logistics as Fall 2027 and still displays an incomplete Fall 2025 interview-date placeholder. Alberta DDS interview information
Not published
Alberta has not published the Fall 2027 interview date, delivery mode, platform or location, number of stations, break structure, assessor composition, scoring rubric, numeric interview weight or confirmation that the 10-minute MMI structure will continue. Use the latest format for provisional preparation, then follow the Fall 2027 checklist and invitation. Alberta DDS admissions
Who this program may suit
Alberta's DDS is a four-year, 11-term program in Edmonton. The current page describes integrated biomedical and oral-health study in the first two years, followed by lectures, laboratories, seminars and clinical practice, including experiences at university, hospital and Northern Alberta clinic sites. Applicants seeking an advanced-entry Canadian DDS with broad clinical exposure may find the program worth comparing, while recognizing that Fall 2027 rules are pending. Alberta DDS program
Practice and next step
First practice: record one answer to Allocating an urgent oral-health appointment. Use the latest published MMI job: clarify the pain and safety information you still need, distinguish urgency from arrival order, choose a fair process, and explain the decision respectfully. This is provisional preparation for Fall 2027, not a claim that Alberta will keep the prior format.
Review the recording for one observable weakness—such as making an unsupported clinical assumption, overlooking how the decision affects each person, or ending without a communication plan. Make one adjustment, record the answer again, and compare the two attempts. Continue with Structured Interview Essentials to repeat that improvement loop across ethical reasoning, teamwork, feedback and motivation.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
