Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
Applicants need a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution before matriculation. If the bachelor's was completed outside the U.S. or Canada, a graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution is required. U.S. citizenship or permanent residence, technical standards, fingerprint and criminal-background checks, and acknowledgement of the concurrent-degree requirements are part of entry. ASU admissions requirements
The standard academic minimum is 3.0 for both overall and science GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants below that undergraduate threshold may proceed if a completed post-baccalaureate or graduate program has at least a 3.0 GPA, or if both undergraduate overall and science GPAs are at least 2.8 and the eligible MCAT is 506 or higher. ASU admissions requirements
The MCAT minimum is 504, without a minimum subscore. For 2027 entry, eligible tests were taken from January 2024 through September 2026, and the highest eligible total is the primary score used in review. A valid score is required before a secondary or interview invitation. The published last testing deadline is September 12, 2026. ASU admissions FAQ ASU dates and deadlines
No specific major or prerequisite course is required. ASU strongly recommends biology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, advanced biology, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, ordinary differential equations, physics, humanities, English, and social science to prepare for the integrated curriculum. Online courses count when they carry credit from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution and appear on an official transcript. ASU admissions FAQ
Four recommendation letters are required. The school recommends coverage from clinical and engineering experiences but does not require a particular recommender type. Current official pages reviewed do not state a Casper or AAMC PREview requirement; applicants should verify any situational-judgement assessment policy in their secondary invitation. Important dates
For 2027 matriculation, AMCAS opened May 5, 2026; submission began May 28; and applications began transmitting to schools June 26. The MCAT deadline is September 12, 2026. The primary application deadline is November 15, 2026, and the secondary and final recommendation-letter deadline is December 15, 2026. ASU dates and deadlines
Interviews run from August 2026 through March 2027. The school's dates table lists decision notifications from October 2026 through March 2027, while its application-process page says rolling decisions are made between October and April and waitlist decisions from April through July. October 15 is the first date traditional offers may be announced. ASU dates and deadlines ASU application process
Plan to Enroll is listed for February 19, 2027; applicants should narrow to three acceptances by April 15; and Commit to Enroll becomes available April 30. ASU's final Commit to Enroll deadline and orientation start date remain TBD for 2027. The school also cautions that some 2027 dates are subject to change. ASU dates and deadlines
How selection works
Applicants submit AMCAS first. Candidates meeting the entry requirements are invited to a secondary with four mission-alignment questions; reapplicants receive a fifth question about activities and experiences since their earlier application. Selected applicants then complete three traditional interviews during a virtual applicant visit day. ASU application process
ASU describes its review as comprehensive and mission-aligned, considering academics along with experience, contributions, and goals connected to innovation, health systems, humanism, and improved health outcomes. Across review stages, it looks for personal characteristics, interpersonal skills, and continuing commitments including intellectual curiosity, communication, collaboration, clinical exposure, service to underserved populations, research, and leadership. Admissions are rolling. The current pages do not publish numerical weights for GPA, MCAT, secondary responses, recommendations, experiences, or interviews; they also do not publish the committee's final decision formula. ASU application process
Interview details
Confirmed
The current process includes three traditional interviews during a virtual applicant visit day. Interviews typically occur from August through March; the 2027 dates table specifies August 2026 through March 2027. ASU application process ASU dates and deadlines
The interviews follow an eligibility-screened secondary and precede rolling decisions. ASU's published mission-aligned attributes include communication, critical thinking, collaboration, cultural awareness, motivation for medicine, clinical exposure, interest in underserved populations, research, and leadership, but the school does not say that each attribute maps to a particular interview. Not published
The current sources do not publish interview duration, whether the three conversations use the same structure, interviewer roles or file access, preparation time, exact questions, scoring rubric, score combination, or interview weight. Use the invitation for the virtual platform, schedule, technology checks, and attendance instructions.
Who this program may suit
ASU may suit applicants seeking a four-year curriculum that integrates an MD with an MS in Medical Engineering and combines medical preparation with engineering, data science, health systems, technology, humanities, and humanism. An Arizona, Phoenix, or prior ASU connection is not required. ASU admissions requirements ASU admissions FAQ
Key practical considerations are the concurrent-degree commitment, quantitative course recommendations, minimum academic screen, four required letters, U.S. citizenship or permanent-residence rule, preliminary LCME accreditation, and three virtual interviews. These are program and application characteristics, not a prediction of admission.
Practice and next step
Start with the featured clinic-access scenario. Record one spoken response that identifies missing information, considers the affected people and system constraints, reaches a defensible decision, and communicates it clearly and empathetically.
Review the recording for one observable weakness: perhaps your reasoning lacked structure, you overlooked an access barrier, or you did not explain how implementation would affect each patient. Record the same response again with one deliberate adjustment and compare the attempts. Continue through the structured-interview path to practise fair decisions, ethical reasoning, teamwork, applying feedback, and motivation. Use ASU's invitation before rehearsing exact virtual-day logistics.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
