Baylor College of Medicine Admissions Guide (2027)

For fall 2027 entry, Baylor College of Medicine's traditional MD program uses TMDSAS, a required Baylor supplemental application, MCAT, Casper, letters, holistic review, and two virtual traditional interviews. The current Baylor timeline gives exact Entry Year 2027 primary, letter, supplemental, ranking, and match deadlines, but a separate How to Apply page conflicts on the supplemental deadline. Baylor publishes no GPA or MCAT minimum and no interview rubric or selection weights. Review the confirmed process, then practise one structured spoken response and improve one observable part.

Admission requirements

Applicants must complete at least 90 undergraduate semester hours, or the quarter-hour equivalent, at a fully accredited U.S. college or university by enrollment. Baylor's current FAQ says U.S. citizens or permanent residents with qualifying Canadian coursework are considered, while the traditional MD program does not accept international or DACA applicants. Transfer applicants are not accepted. Baylor requirements AAMC applications accepted Baylor admissions FAQ

Required preparation includes 3-4 semester hours of quantitative math, 3-4 hours of expository writing, 12 hours of humanities or social and behavioural sciences, two semesters of organic chemistry, 3-4 hours of biochemistry, and 3-4 hours of advanced biology. Labs are not required for organic chemistry, biochemistry, or advanced biology. Spanish is recommended. Baylor course requirements

The FAQ says required coursework must be within ten years of application. Baylor does not accept AP, IB, CLEP, or dual credit for required coursework. Online credit is accepted when it appears on the transcript of an accredited U.S. undergraduate institution; Spring 2020 Pass/Fail coursework has a separate published exception. Baylor admissions FAQ

The MCAT is required, and Baylor uses the most recent eligible score rather than superscoring. It publishes a three-year recency rule but no minimum score or GPA. The FAQ's printed 2027 MCAT date range ends after the intended matriculation date, so applicants should verify the exact oldest and latest eligible dates rather than relying on that line. Baylor how to apply Baylor admissions FAQ

Casper is required. Baylor lists September 15, 2026, as the final test opportunity and September 28 as the score-distribution deadline. Recommendation options are one health-professions committee packet or three individual evaluations, with up to four individual letters in the main set and an optional extra letter under TMDSAS rules. Important dates

For Entry Year 2027, the TMDSAS application became accessible May 1, 2026, at 8 a.m. CST, and submission opened May 15 at 8 a.m. CST. Baylor's supplemental application opened June 1. Holistic file review and interview invitations run July through December; interviews run August through January. Baylor admissions timeline

The TMDSAS application deadline is October 1, 2026, at 5 p.m. CST. Letters are due October 15 at 5 p.m. CST. The current timeline and FAQ list November 1 at 5 p.m. CST for the traditional MD supplemental. One current How to Apply page instead lists October 1 for that supplemental; applicants should follow the exact deadline in the Baylor portal and confirm with Admissions. Applicants rank schools in TMDSAS by January 29, 2027, at 5 p.m. CST, and match results are announced February 12. Accepted applicants receive campus-preference instructions, with assignments beginning in March. By April 30 applicants may hold only one offer; after May 15, Texas schools may not offer a seat to a Texas resident who holds another Texas medical-school seat. Waitlist offers run May through June. Baylor currently says orientation begins in mid-July but does not publish the exact 2027 orientation or class-start date. Baylor admissions timeline

How selection works

Baylor does not review a file until it has the verified TMDSAS application, supplemental and fee, letters, MCAT, and Casper score. Applications are reviewed holistically from July through December, and selected applicants receive interview invitations during that window. Baylor admissions FAQ Baylor admissions timeline

Baylor describes holistic review as balanced, flexible, and individualized consideration of experiences, attributes, and academic metrics, including how the applicant may contribute to medicine. The Admissions Committee has sole authority to select, evaluate, and admit MD students. Baylor campuses and admissions Baylor Admissions Committee

After interviews, Texas-resident admissions follow the TMDSAS match and later waitlist process. Accepted applicants separately rank Houston and Temple campus preferences; a computerized process assigns campuses based on preference, capacity, and class balance. The current sources do not publish numerical weights for academics, Casper, letters, experience, or interviews, nor the final committee formula. Baylor admissions timeline Baylor admissions FAQ

Confirmed

AAMC's current 2026-27 report describes two virtual traditional interviews, each 30 minutes. The interviewers are either two faculty members or one faculty member plus one student, resident, or fellow member of the Admissions Interviewing Subcommittee. AAMC 2026-27 interview procedures

Baylor's Entry Year 2027 timeline says invitations are extended from July through December and interviews are conducted from August through January. Interviewed applicants also receive opportunities to visit the Houston and Temple campuses; the FAQ says a virtual tour is provided during the interview session and open houses are offered during the season. Who this program may suit

Baylor may suit applicants considering a traditional MD program with Houston and Temple campus options, holistic review, required Casper, and two virtual traditional interviews. The school says in-state and out-of-state applicants are evaluated with the same criteria, while TMDSAS determines residency classification. Baylor admissions FAQ

Key practical considerations are the TMDSAS route, required U.S. coursework with limited Canadian equivalency for eligible U.S. citizens and permanent residents, no published GPA or MCAT minimum, most-recent-MCAT policy, the separate Baylor supplemental, and campus assignment after acceptance. These are application and program characteristics, not a prediction of admission.

Practice and next step

Start with the featured clinic-access scenario. Record one spoken response that identifies missing information, considers both patients and access constraints, reaches a defensible decision, and communicates it clearly and empathetically.

Review the recording for one observable weakness: perhaps your opening was vague, you overlooked an important stakeholder, or you did not explain how you would communicate with the patient who must wait. Record the same response again with one deliberate adjustment and compare the attempts. Continue through the structured-interview path to practise fair decisions, ethical reasoning, teamwork, applying feedback, and motivation. Use Baylor's invitation before rehearsing exact virtual-day logistics.

Structured Interview Essentials
