Admission requirements
Applicants need at least 90 UBC-transferable credits, equivalent to three academic years of full-time post-secondary study, plus the specified prerequisite courses. Outstanding requirements must be completed by April 30 of the entering year, with final grades received by May 31. The minimum prerequisite grade is the equivalent of UBC C-. UBC DMD pre-dental requirements
UBC publishes a minimum overall academic average of 70%, or the stated equivalent on another grading scale, across transferable college or university work. Applicants who completed four or more academic years may have one qualifying worst year dropped, subject to UBC's conditions. Meeting minimums does not guarantee review or admission. UBC DMD academic requirements
Applicants must submit a personal statement and Canadian or American DAT results. UBC accepts DAT writings no later than August 31, 2026 for the Class of 2031 and uses one complete eligible test result rather than combining sections from different attempts. International applicants are eligible but must also satisfy the published English-language and immigration requirements. UBC DMD admissions procedures

How selection works
UBC says admission is based primarily on academic ability and personal qualities shown through pre-dental academic records, aptitude testing, individual interviews and group interviews, together with a global assessment of the application and the applicant's fit with the program. Minimum requirements do not guarantee admission. UBC DMD admissions procedures
The Faculty describes the review as holistic and considers well-rounded academic and personal performance. It does not publish numeric weights for GPA, DAT, the personal statement, individual interview, group interview or overall fit. UBC also says CASPer is not required and reference letters are not requested or reviewed. UBC DMD FAQ UBC DMD admissions procedures

Not published
As of August 9, 2026, UBC has not published the Class of 2031 interview dates, whether either interview is virtual or in person, the duration, group size, question structure, preparation time, assessor composition, scoring rubric or numeric interview weight. Do not infer an MMI or structured-panel format from another dental school or a prior cycle. UBC DMD application page UBC DMD admissions procedures
Who this program may suit
UBC's DMD may suit applicants who want a four-year Vancouver program combining problem-based learning, lectures, clinical experience and small-group problem solving. The published curriculum emphasizes biological sciences, clinical skills, professionalism, ethics, communication and community service. UBC Dentistry program
The admissions process requires a strong academic and DAT file, then asks candidates to demonstrate personal qualities across individual and group interviews. Applicants should be ready to explain decisions clearly while listening and contributing constructively in a group; that preparation follows the published selection jobs but does not predict admission. Practice and next step
First practice: record one answer to Allocating an urgent oral-health appointment. Clarify the pain and safety information you still need, distinguish urgency from arrival order, propose a fair decision process, and explain the outcome respectfully. This practises the judgment and communication work relevant to UBC's published individual and group interviews without assuming an unpublished question format.
Review the recording for one observable weakness—such as making an unsupported clinical assumption, ignoring how the group reaches agreement, or failing to explain the trade-off. Make one adjustment, record the answer again, and compare the two attempts. Continue with Structured Interview Essentials to repeat that improvement loop across ethical reasoning, teamwork, feedback and motivation.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
