Admission requirements
CWRU requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution before matriculation. Applicants must complete the MCAT; for the 2026–2027 cycle, the school requires at least a 502 to receive a secondary, accepts scores from January 2023 through September 12, 2026, and does not accept January 2027 scores for that cycle (MCAT requirements).
Required preparation includes general chemistry with labs, organic chemistry with lab, biochemistry that includes metabolism, and one semester of writing or college English. CWRU also evaluates science and liberal-arts breadth, interpersonal skills, clinical exposure, professionalism, empathy, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to medicine. The University Program does not require CASPer or PREview for this cycle (admission requirements).

How selection works
CWRU receives and verifies the AMCAS primary, then invites eligible applicants to the secondary. A complete file includes the verified primary, completed and paid secondary, MCAT meeting the 502 threshold, and letters. The committee evaluates academic credentials, coursework, MCAT, letters, activities, leadership, clinical experience, research, volunteer work, interpersonal skills, and commitment to medicine. The standard University Program uses rolling admissions after interviews; CWRU does not publish a single weighting formula (MD admissions).
