Clinic appointment access and fairness

Original Videoath MMI-style spoken practice for the McMaster admissions-page canary. This is not a recalled or confidential McMaster question. Review the response for a clear opening position, affected people and interests, missing information, fair trade-offs, respectful communication, and a concise conclusion. Use a two-attempt loop: review one observable weakness, then record the same prompt again with that adjustment.

Quick facts

  • School: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio (MD admissions).
  • Program: Doctor of Medicine (MD), standard University Program.
  • Cycle: 2026–2027 cycle leading to Fall 2027 entry.
  • Application: AMCAS primary, CWRU secondary, MCAT, letters, and fee.
  • Interview: virtual Zoom interview day; University Program uses one health-education-professional interview and one medical-student interview.
  • Verification: first-party CWRU sources checked 2026-08-08.

Admission requirements

CWRU requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution before matriculation. Applicants must complete the MCAT; for the 2026–2027 cycle, the school requires at least a 502 to receive a secondary, accepts scores from January 2023 through September 12, 2026, and does not accept January 2027 scores for that cycle (MCAT requirements).

Required preparation includes general chemistry with labs, organic chemistry with lab, biochemistry that includes metabolism, and one semester of writing or college English. CWRU also evaluates science and liberal-arts breadth, interpersonal skills, clinical exposure, professionalism, empathy, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to medicine. The University Program does not require CASPer or PREview for this cycle (admission requirements).

Important dates

For the 2026–2027 cycle leading to Fall 2027 entry:

  • May 5, 2026: AMCAS application becomes available.
  • June 26, 2026: first verified primary applications reach medical schools.
  • October 15, 2026: CWRU primary AMCAS deadline.
  • November 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST: CWRU secondary deadline and complete-application deadline.
  • September 2026–February 2027: interviewing season.
  • Early July 2027: classes begin. These dates come from CWRU’s current admissions timeline; recheck the live page for any change (admissions timeline).

How selection works

CWRU receives and verifies the AMCAS primary, then invites eligible applicants to the secondary. A complete file includes the verified primary, completed and paid secondary, MCAT meeting the 502 threshold, and letters. The committee evaluates academic credentials, coursework, MCAT, letters, activities, leadership, clinical experience, research, volunteer work, interpersonal skills, and commitment to medicine. The standard University Program uses rolling admissions after interviews; CWRU does not publish a single weighting formula (MD admissions).

Interview details

Confirmed

CWRU says all MD interviews for the 2026–2027 cycle are virtual through Zoom. The University Program includes one interview with a health education professional and one with a current medical student; the interview day also includes information sessions, student interaction, and a virtual tour (interviews).

Not published

The current sources do not publish station count, interview duration, scoring rubric, or a current question list. Do not label the University Program interviews MMI.

Who this program may suit

CWRU’s published process may suit applicants who can show strong science and liberal-arts preparation, clinical exposure, empathy, leadership, professionalism, and a thoughtful reason for medicine (admission requirements). The standard University Program, Lerner College Program, and MSTP have different emphases; this page covers only the standard MD route.

Practice and next step

Original Videoath practice: Use the linked general fairness prompt to practise a concise response for a two-interviewer conversation. Record a timed answer, review your structure, empathy, and trade-off explanation, choose one weakness, adjust the answer, record it again, and compare both attempts before selecting the next practice target.
