FAU Schmidt MD Admissions & Interview Guide (2027)

For fall 2027 entry, Florida Atlantic University's Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine uses AMCAS, a $30 secondary for verified applicants, holistic screening, a full-day interview, and rolling decisions. Applicants need a bachelor's degree, specified U.S. or Canadian coursework, an eligible MCAT, and a committee letter or qualifying individual letters. The current official pages are evergreen rather than cycle-labelled: the fall 2027 primary deadline, interview modality and format, assessed-component timing, file access, rubric, weights, and final formula remain unpublished. Review the confirmed process, then record one structured response and improve one observable part.

Admission requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. The current FAQ says international and DACA applicants are not accepted. FAU Schmidt requirements FAU Schmidt FAQ

Required graded coursework from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution includes two semesters each of English; general or inorganic chemistry with laboratories; organic chemistry or biochemistry with laboratories; physics with laboratories; biology with laboratories; mathematics; and two additional science courses. Biochemistry is strongly recommended and may replace the second organic-chemistry semester. FAU Schmidt prerequisites

AP and IB credit may satisfy some requirements when supported by additional preparation. Community-college work is accepted, with upper-level coursework encouraged. Online courses are considered case by case; CLEP and AICE credit are not accepted. FAU Schmidt FAQ

The MCAT is required no later than September before the entry year and cannot be more than three years old at application. The school does not superscore across test dates. The current pages do not publish a minimum MCAT or GPA threshold. FAU Schmidt requirements FAU Schmidt FAQ

A committee or composite letter is preferred. Otherwise, traditional applicants normally submit at least three faculty letters, including two from natural-science professors and one from a non-science professor; the maximum is five. The FAQ provides alternative sources for applicants away from academic settings. FAU Schmidt letters

Important dates

For the 2027 AMCAS cycle, the centralized application became available May 1, 2026 and opened for submission May 27, 2026. These are service-wide dates, not FAU Schmidt's school-specific deadline. AAMC 2027 AMCAS

FAU Schmidt's current requirements page says secondary applications submitted after December 31 are not considered, but it does not attach that cutoff to a named entry cycle. This page therefore does not convert it into December 31, 2026. Applicants should follow their application portal and current school communication for the fall 2027 primary and secondary deadlines. FAU Schmidt process

The evergreen page schedules full-day interviews on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from mid-September through February and describes rolling decisions. It does not publish the fall 2027 interview dates, offer dates, Plan to Enroll or Commit to Enroll deadlines, orientation, or class start. FAU Schmidt process

How selection works

Applicants submit AMCAS. All applicants with a verified primary are directed to the $30 online secondary, and AAMC Fee Assistance qualification automatically waives the secondary fee. FAU Schmidt process

A team of evaluators screens and scores the completed AMCAS application, letters, MCAT, and secondary. The school lists personal attributes, community service, values, educational background, GPAs, MCAT, academic rigor, breadth of experiences, research, and meaningful direct patient contact among the factors reviewed. Screening results determine interview invitations. FAU Schmidt process

After the interview, the Admissions Committee uses a rolling process and may accept the applicant, place them on the alternate list, or decline the application. FAU Schmidt process

The current official pages do not publish numerical weights for GPA, MCAT, coursework, attributes, service, research, clinical experience, letters, secondary responses, or interview performance, nor a final score-combination formula.

Not published

The current official pages do not publish whether fall 2027 interviews are virtual or in person, whether the assessed format is panel, one-to-one, or MMI, the number of assessed conversations, interviewer count, assessed-component duration, preparation time, exact question categories, interviewer file access, scoring rubric, interview weight, or final score-combination formula. Applicants should use their invitation before simulating exact logistics.

Who this program may suit

FAU Schmidt may suit eligible applicants seeking an MD program in Boca Raton whose admissions process values direct patient contact, community service, research, academic rigor, personal attributes, and breadth of experience. FAU Schmidt process

Key practical fit constraints are U.S. citizenship or permanent residence, the bachelor's and graded prerequisite requirements, the current MCAT currency policy, the December 31 evergreen secondary cutoff, and a full-day interview process whose modality and structure are not currently published. These are eligibility, preparation, and format considerations, not predictions of an interview or offer.

Practice and next step

Start with the featured clinic-access scenario. Record one spoken response that identifies missing clinical and access information, weighs both patients' needs, proposes a consistent decision process, and communicates the outcome respectfully. This practises structured judgment and communication without assuming FAU Schmidt's unpublished interview format or time limit.

Review the recording for one observable weakness: perhaps you made an unsupported assumption about missed appointments, did not compare urgency, or left your decision rule vague. Record the same response again with one deliberate adjustment and compare the attempts. Continue through the structured-interview path to practise ethical reasoning, teamwork, using feedback, and motivation. Use the invitation before recreating exact fall 2027 logistics.
