Clemson publishes a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA for South Carolina residents and 3.40 for nonresidents. South Carolina applicants below 3.00 may receive alternate review, but applicants below 2.50 are not considered. There is no separate published science-GPA minimum and no bachelor's-degree requirement. Applicants may have no more than two prerequisites in progress. Prerequisites require C-minus or better. Required preparation includes general biology and laboratories, general chemistry, organic chemistry and laboratories, biochemistry, physics and laboratories, human communication or public speaking, composition and statistics. Clemson accepts qualifying regionally accredited online courses, encourages recent science preparation, accepts transcripted AP credit and restricts pass/satisfactory exceptions to 2020.

Applicants need at least 100 hours of supervised clinical, agricultural, farm, health or research experience under a DVM or PhD, 100 animal-experience hours and 100 community-service hours. Pet ownership does not count. Three recommendations are required: one from a DVM or PhD and two from other writers. No standardized test is required.

The Class of 2031 application uses VMCAS. The application opened January 21, 2026, Clemson became selectable May 7, and VMCAS is due September 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. How selection works

Clemson publishes unusually specific selection weights. Academic achievement is 30%. The video-interview score is 30% and assesses critical thinking, communication, empathy, teamwork, ethical judgment and self-awareness. Geographic and professional diversity is 15%, service and servant leadership 10%, character and resilience 10%, and accomplishments and talents 5%. Current selection contract

All qualified South Carolina residents receive an interview invitation. Because of capacity, only competitive nonresidents are invited. An interview invitation does not determine the admission decision. Clemson emphasizes rural South Carolina, agriculture, service and workforce needs in its programme mission.
