Admission requirements
A university degree is not required, but applicants need at least 60 credit hours of prerequisite study. All prerequisites must be completed at an accredited university by May 1, 2027. The published minimum is an A- average—3.7 on Dalhousie's 4.3 scale or 80%—both across the last 60 credit hours and across biochemistry, microbiology and human physiology. Dalhousie DDS academic requirements
The prerequisite set includes biology, chemistry, physics and organic chemistry with labs; human physiology; microbiology; biochemistry; writing; humanities or social science; and electives. Applicants also need the required course-load pattern, must stay within the published online-course limits, and can only use courses completed within 10 years of the application deadline. Check the official table for credit values and transfer equivalencies. Dalhousie DDS prerequisite table
For the 2027 intake, eligible DAT results must come from a test written on or after October 1, 2023. The DAT writing deadline is August 31, 2026, and official scores must reach Dalhousie by October 1, 2026. In one attempt, applicants must meet the published minimums for Perceptual Ability, Reading Comprehension and Survey of Natural Sciences. Dalhousie DDS DAT requirements
The application also asks for dental job-shadowing hours, two references or verifiers, a current CV or resume, official transcripts and a personal statement. Dalhousie recommends—but does not require—at least 30 hours of dental shadowing. Dalhousie DDS non-academic requirements
Important dates
For Fall 2027 entry, the DDS application opens July 15, 2026. The Dalhousie application, application fee, DAT scores, supporting documents and available official transcripts are due October 1, 2026. Applicants using AADSAS must still submit a separate Dalhousie application by that deadline. Dalhousie DDS application procedure
Canadian-seat applicants must submit fall-term updated official transcripts by January 15, 2027. Dalhousie lists Canadian interviews for March 2027, conditional acceptance letters for March to April 2027, final transcripts for interviewed candidates by May 1, 2027, and immunization and CPR-HCP records by June 30, 2027. Dalhousie DDS Canadian-seat dates
International-seat interviews are listed for November 2026 through January 2027, with conditional letters in February 2027. Applicants should use the current calendar section for their seat category because dates and required residency or WES evidence differ. Dalhousie DDS international-seat dates
How selection works
Dalhousie first checks the published academic, prerequisite, DAT and application-document requirements. A complete application meeting the minimums does not guarantee an interview. The current calendar says interview selection is primarily determined by GPA and DAT scores and that approximately 90 applicants are invited each year. Dalhousie DDS interview selection
Final decisions may use academic record, DAT performance, the interview, references and other criteria considered by the Admissions Committee. Dalhousie does not publish a numeric weighting for those factors. Preference is given to residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, while qualified applicants from other provinces and countries may be considered. Interview details
Confirmed
For the 2026/2027 application cycle leading to Fall 2027 entry, interviews are held in person at Dalhousie's Faculty of Dentistry. The interview is structured, so applicants are asked the same type of questions, and a panel of two to four faculty and/or staff members conducts it. Dalhousie says the interview assesses personal qualities including integrity, communication skills and conscientiousness. Canadian interviews are scheduled for March 2027; international interviews run from November 2026 through January 2027. Dalhousie DDS interview process
Not published
As of August 9, 2026, the cycle-specific calendar does not publish the interview duration, exact date or schedule, number of questions, preparation time, question topics, scoring rubric or numeric interview weight. It identifies a structured panel interview, not an MMI, so do not assume an MMI station format. Dalhousie DDS admissions calendar
Who this program may suit
Dalhousie's DDS may suit applicants who want a full-time, in-person program with early clinical exposure. The program page says clinical patient-treatment activity begins in first year and expands to the student dental clinic, local hospitals and outreach clinics from second year. Dalhousie DDS program
The admissions process rewards strong recent academics and DAT performance before a structured interview focused on integrity, communication and conscientiousness. That suggests applicants should prepare both the academic file and concise, evidence-based explanations of their judgment; it does not predict admission. Dalhousie DDS selection
Practice and next step
Original Videoath practice: record one answer to Allocating an urgent oral-health appointment. Use the confirmed structured-interview job: clarify the clinical and access information you still need, balance urgency with a fair process, choose a safe next step, and explain the decision respectfully.
Review the recording for one observable weakness—such as making an unsupported clinical assumption, applying a rule without considering patient risk, or failing to explain the trade-off clearly. Make one adjustment, record the answer again, and compare the two attempts. Continue with Structured Interview Essentials to practise a repeatable answer structure across judgment, communication and motivation questions.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview jobs: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Each item is original Videoath practice. Record each response once, then choose the weakest response, review one observable weakness, and answer that prompt again with one deliberate adjustment.
