Admission requirements

Applicants need at least 90 semester or 135 quarter hours from an accredited American college or university before enrollment. A bachelor's is preferred but not mandatory. Minimum cumulative and science GPAs are both 3.0. Required courses must use a graduated letter-grade system, be completed with C or better and include one academic year of biology with laboratories; one year of principles of chemistry with laboratories; one year of advanced chemistry consisting of Organic Chemistry I with laboratory plus Biochemistry I, with Organic Chemistry II optional but recommended; one semester or two quarters of physics with laboratory; and one academic year of English. The DAT must be no more than three years old and must be completed by September 30, 2026. Published minimums on the current scale are Academic Average 370, Perceptual Ability 360 and Total Science 380. Applicants whose first language is not English must also submit TOEFL unless they earned a U.S. bachelor's or receive an administrative waiver. The TOEFL minimums are 100 overall and 26 speaking, with a score no more than two years old and received by September 30.

Four evaluations are required through AADSAS. Applicants may submit a committee letter or packet, one letter from a dentist they shadowed and two personal letters; alternatively they may submit one academic professional letter, one dentist letter and two personal letters. Dental shadowing is strongly encouraged. The FAQ says successful applicants have historically averaged about 300 hours, but it does not make 300 a minimum. FAQ

Georgia, non-Georgia and eligible international applicants may apply. Georgia residency requires domicile for 12 months before enrollment. International applicants need valid permanent-resident or visa status and, like all applicants, at least 90 hours from an accredited U.S. institution. Up to 10% of accepted students may be non-Georgia residents.

Important dates

The 2026-27 ADEA AADSAS service opened May 12, 2026 and accepted first submissions June 2. DCG requires AADSAS, official DAT and any required TOEFL by September 30, 2026. Interviews take place from mid-August through early December 2026. The current requirements page identifies December 15, 2026 as Decision Day. The school does not publish a cycle-specific final interview date, Fall 2027 orientation or first class day, acceptance-deposit amount or offer-response schedule on the reviewed pages.

How selection works

The Admissions Committee reviews applicants after the AADSAS file, required testing, letters and supplemental are complete. Published factors include total and science GPA, DAT performance, course load and difficulty, academic improvement, recommendations, dental exposure, employment, research, extracurricular involvement, community service, leadership, communication, motivation, interpersonal qualities and interview performance. The committee recommends candidates to the Dean, who makes the final admission decision. FAQ

Georgia residence is a material selection condition: Georgia residents receive priority, while the school may accept up to 10% non-Georgia residents. This is an upper boundary, not a promise that the full share will be used in every class. International applicants remain subject to the U.S.-coursework and status requirements.

DCG does not rank its holistic factors or publish numerical weights, an academic-screen formula beyond its thresholds, interview scoring anchors, committee vote mechanics, the Dean's decision rubric, wait-list order or post-interview weighting.

Who this program may suit

This page covers the regular four-year DMD based in Augusta. DCG does not offer an advanced-standing transfer or accelerated licensure route for internationally educated dentists.
