Admission requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents when they apply. UF publishes no absolute GPA minimum, but recommends science, last-45 and overall GPAs above 3.0. Prerequisites require C or higher and include general biology and labs, microbiology with lab, genetics, general and organic chemistry with labs, biochemistry, physics with labs and statistics. UF recommends no more than three prerequisites outstanding at application; all must be finished by the end of spring before August entry. A bachelor's degree is not stated as universally required, but accepted applicants must complete any degree programme in which they are enrolled. Application review runs May-November; all applicants receive a status update in December. Selected candidates interview virtually in January-February and offers are emailed in February. Preview Days are in March; offers must be accepted or declined April 15 or the next business day, with no enrolment deposit. Orientation and the Gainesville programme begin in August, with exact dates not yet published.

How selection works

UF first assesses academics using science, last-45 and overall GPA, then reviews complete applications individually through multiple admissions-committee members. Applicants are ranked in separate state-funded and self-funded pools; the current 150-seat class allocation is 100 state-funded and 50 self-funded seats. Current criteria

Full-file review scores academic history and course load; veterinary and animal experience and recommendations; and professionalism/readiness, including written communication, activities, service and employment. Selected candidates then complete the required behavioral panel interview. UF does not publish numerical weights, cut scores, the number interviewed, post-interview formula or waitlist ordering.
