Admission requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents when they apply and must earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution before matriculation. An MCAT is required; for the 2026-2027 application cycle, accepted exams were taken from June 2023 through September 2026. Geisinger requirements
Geisinger does not require a fixed prerequisite-course list. It recommends biochemistry with lab, two biology courses with lab, two chemistry courses with lab, two organic chemistry courses with lab, two physics courses with lab and statistics. Online coursework is generally not accepted, except that pandemic-era online work may be considered; pandemic-affected pass/fail coursework is accepted. Geisinger requirements
Applicants submit a verified AMCAS application, a Geisinger secondary and either one pre-health or committee letter or three faculty evaluation letters. Additional letters may address parts of the file not otherwise covered, with four letters maximum. Application process
AAMC PREview is strongly encouraged rather than required. Geisinger considers a submitted score as one part of review, and instructs reviewers to disregard a missing score. Important dates

The timeline page does not print a cycle year beside the December 15 and January 15 dates. Its current application-process and requirements pages contain explicit 2026 dates and the 2026-2027 MCAT window, supporting use for this cycle, but the two regular-decision deadlines should still be rechecked before publication.
How selection works
Geisinger reviews verified AMCAS applications and automatically sends a secondary to every verified applicant. Completed applications are considered for an invitation-only interview. The Admissions Committee considers academic potential and alignment with the school's mission and values; submitted PREview scores are one part of the process. Geisinger Commonwealth may suit applicants interested in a community-based, patient-centred medical education connected to a distributed Pennsylvania campus network. The MD program's regional campuses include Danville, Lewistown/State College, Sayre and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. MD admissions
