Admission requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. A permanent resident uploads proof of valid status with the secondary, and admitted applicants must verify lawful presence. A bachelor's degree is required before matriculation, and prerequisite coursework must be completed at a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution. Foreign coursework counts only when accepted as transfer credit and shown on an official U.S. or Canadian transcript. Admissions policies

Required coursework is one academic year each of biology with lab, physics with lab, inorganic chemistry with lab and English; one semester of organic chemistry with lab; one humanities course; and one statistics or biostatistics course. One humanities course may satisfy one semester of the English requirement. Recommended preparation includes anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, Spanish, genetics, immunology, microbiology and social science. Admissions process

Transcripted AP, Pass/Fail and credit/no-credit coursework may satisfy prerequisites. Online courses are accepted, although in-person coursework is strongly recommended. All degree and prerequisite requirements must be complete or on track for completion before matriculation. Admissions process

The secondary screen requires at least a 3.0 AMCAS BCPM GPA and 502 MCAT. A complete file contains AMCAS, the $75 UGA secondary or fee waiver, an MCAT from within the past three years, three to five letters, citizenship or permanent-residence evidence, the degree and prerequisites. The 2027 timeline says Early Decision applicants should take the MCAT by mid-July 2026 and regular applicants before the end of 2026. A separate line on the same page still gives the accepted MCAT window only for the Fall 2026 cycle. The Choose Your Medical School tool opens in mid-February 2027. Applicants may select Plan to Enroll in February; by April 15 accepted applicants must narrow to no more than three schools; and Commit to Enroll becomes available April 30. How selection works

Applicants apply through AMCAS. UGA invites applicants meeting the 3.0 BCPM GPA and 502 MCAT screen to submit its secondary. Once the file is complete, the Office of Admissions and Admissions Committee review it to decide whether to invite an interview. Decisions are rolling. Admissions process

UGA describes a mission-aligned process that prioritizes Georgia residents or applicants with a Georgia tie. A tie is defined as graduating or being on track to graduate from a Georgia four-year institution, currently living and working in Georgia, having a parent or guardian in Georgia, or graduating from a Georgia high school. Competitive review looks for AAMC premedical competencies, mission and values alignment, substantial experiences, understanding of medicine and observable commitment to service. Candidates rotate through six stations, each eight minutes long: two minutes to review the prompt and six minutes to respond to an interviewer. Who this program may suit

UGA School of Medicine is a new independent public MD school in Athens. It received preliminary LCME accreditation in February 2026 and welcomed its inaugural class in Fall 2026. Run a six-station virtual MMI using UGA's exact timing: two minutes to read and six minutes to answer at each station. Keep the interviewer closed-file. After the circuit, review whether each response identifies the people affected, explains reasonable options, makes a defensible decision and shows respect, teamwork, integrity, commitment, curiosity or courage. Choose the weakest station, tighten the reasoning and record it again under the same eight-minute constraint.
