Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
Applicants must complete at least three years of college work and a bachelor's degree before matriculation, plus all prerequisites. Students with academic work outside the United States or Canada must supplement it with at least one year of U.S. or Canadian college or university training; foreign students without a U.S. or Canadian bachelor's or advanced degree are rarely accepted. Applicants must demonstrate fluent, nuanced English. HMS eligibility
Required preparation includes one year of biology with lab experience; two years of chemistry covering inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry with lab experience; one year of physics; and one year of expository writing. Behavioural science and, for Pathways, calculus and statistics are encouraged. HST candidates have additional competency expectations in upper-level mathematics, biochemistry, molecular biology and calculus-based physics. HMS prerequisites
AP rules vary by subject. In-person courses are strongly preferred; online laboratory sciences should not be used, and other online courses require case-by-case approval. Prerequisites and any degree in progress must be complete before matriculation. HMS prerequisites
The MCAT is required. HMS states that scores more than three years old must be retaken and that all valid scores are considered, but the current accessible official text does not publish the exact accepted exam dates for Fall 2027. HMS application
Applicants submit at least three individual letters or one committee letter through AMCAS, with six letters ordinarily allowed. HMS recommends two science-professor letters, one non-science professor letter and letters from research supervisors; research-supervisor letters may exceed the six-letter maximum. HMS application
Important dates
The official timeline publishes a recurring admissions sequence: AMCAS opens in early May and becomes submittable in early June; the HMS secondary opens in early July; interviews run from September through January; AMCAS is due October 15; the secondary and all materials are due October 22; and AMCAS transcripts are due October 30. All decisions are released together in early March because HMS does not use rolling admissions. HMS timeline
The same timeline lists April 15 to narrow acceptances to three, April 30 for Plan to Enroll, June 2 for Commit to Enroll, July 1 for final transcripts and early August for matriculation and the White Coat Ceremony. HMS timeline
Material cycle gap: the current official page does not expose years in retrievable text. These dates should not be converted to 2026 or 2027 dates without a live, cycle-labelled confirmation. The prior MCAT page still displayed an October 22, 2025 score deadline and was not used as Fall 2027 evidence.
How selection works
The Committee on Admissions evaluates academic records, MCAT scores, extracurricular activities, research, community service and health-care experience, while seeking strong preparation across biological and physical sciences, humanities and social sciences. The current pages also describe self-motivation, ambition and compassion as shared qualities among admitted students. Preparing to apply
HMS sets no published minimum GPA or MCAT score, but expects academic excellence. All valid MCAT scores are considered. HMS application
HMS does not use rolling admissions and releases accept, deny and waitlist decisions together in early March. Applicants may be considered in no more than two application cycles, including incomplete attempts. HMS timeline HMS eligibility
The school does not publish numerical selection weights, an academic-screen formula, interview scoring or weight, committee-vote rules or a final formula.
Interview details
Confirmed
The official timeline places interviews from September through January, and the admissions FAQ identifies interview as a distinct stage of review. HMS timeline Preparing to apply
Not published
The current retrievable official pages do not publish the Fall 2027 interview modality, location, number of interviews, one-to-one, panel or MMI structure, duration, interviewer roles, file access, question categories, preparation time, scoring rubric, weights, assessor calibration or final score-combination method. Applicants should use the invitation for all logistical and format details.
Who this program may suit
Harvard offers one MD program with two curriculum tracks: Pathways and Health Sciences & Technology. Pathways emphasizes active learning, early clinical experience and a scholarly project; HST is offered jointly with MIT and emphasizes quantitative biomedical science and research. HST is a curriculum track, not a separate medical school record. HMS curriculum
Applicants should choose a track based on curriculum fit and verify the additional HST preparation in upper-level mathematics, biochemistry, molecular biology and calculus-based physics. Admissions review values a balanced academic background alongside research, health-care, community-service and broader experiences. HMS prerequisites Preparing to apply
Practice and next step
Record one response to the featured prompt. Present the situation, the people affected, the evidence you would seek, the trade-offs and the action you would take. Keep it grounded in your own research, service or health-care experience.
Review the response for intellectual clarity, compassion and whether it is self-contained. Record it again with one improvement, then compare both attempts. Since Harvard has not published the current interview format in accessible text, keep practice adaptable and switch to the invitation's exact structure when available.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
