Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
A U.S. bachelor’s degree is required before August 2027 matriculation. Workman publishes no required prerequisite-course list and no course-age rule; its 2026-27 admission model instead lists recommended coursework and accepts online, certificate, AP and IB work as evidence of preparation. 2026-27 admission model
The FAQ sets a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA minimum. An applicant below 3.0 may be considered with a completed master’s GPA of at least 3.0, but the same page later says applications with a 3.0 or lower undergraduate GPA will not be considered; treat exact eligibility at 3.0 as an unresolved wording conflict. The DAT is not required and cannot be uploaded. Recommendations, Interfolio and committee packets are not accepted. No fixed shadowing-hour minimum applies, although zero shadowing affects readiness review. Current FAQ
For this cycle applicants need a U.S. bachelor’s degree and must not require an F-1 visa; permanent residence outside the U.S. is ineligible. H1B/H4 holders receive case-specific review, and DACA candidates may be considered with evidence they can finance the programme. There is no in-state or out-of-state seat limit or tuition difference.
Important dates
The direct Slate application opens May 1, 2026 and is due November 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. There is no application fee. Applicants receive a Kira link after submission, normally within 72 hours; they have two weeks to complete it, but the absolute final Kira date is November 8, 2026. The assessment score takes about two weeks to reach the school. Current FAQ
Invitations for August interviews begin in June or July and may continue through November. The admission model places interviews from August through December; the FAQ says the active-reserve pool is final after interviews conclude no later than February. Rolling decisions are expected to begin in August, and the class starts in the first week of August 2027. Exact interview dates and matriculation date are not published.
How selection works
At least three reviewers independently assess the application: two Graduate Admissions reviewers and one Workman faculty member. Knowledge, experiences and reflections receive Ready, May Be Ready or Not Ready Yet ratings, which are aggregated to prioritize interviews. Kira has little influence when an applicant is rated Ready but may improve interview probability when the file raises concerns. Current FAQ
After interview, interviewers independently recommend readiness and participants debrief highlights and concerns. A separate faculty committee receives deidentified evaluation data and makes conditional acceptance, active reserve or reapply-next-cycle decisions; the dean is not a member. Only individual interviews are graded with standardized rubrics. Other activities are ungraded but observed. Exact formulae, Kira thresholds, rubric scores and vote rules are not published.
Interview details
Confirmed
Kira is a required asynchronous one-way assessment completed remotely in one sitting. It uses timed recorded responses to school-authored questions, includes unscored practice questions and takes about 30–45 minutes including setup and practice. Current FAQ
Selected applicants then attend an in-person-only interview at Workman Hall. The approximately 3.5-hour programme includes three 10-minute one-on-one interviews with faculty, a dental procedure simulation using haptic technology, a flipped-classroom demonstration, a Workman Hall tour and Q&A, with an optional main-campus tour. Only the individual interviews are graded with standardized rubrics; other activities remain observable.
Not published
The school does not publish Kira question count, prep/response time by prompt or scoring scale; faculty interviewer identities, file access or question domains; precise interview-day dates; committee weighting; or accommodation details beyond Kira's platform requirements.
Who this program may suit
Workman's CARE model looks for preparation and experiences connected to clinician, advocate, researcher and entrepreneur roles, with emphasis on adaptable learners who can communicate, reflect and serve. 2026-27 admission model The regular four-year DMD is distinct from HPU's internal accelerated Dental Medicine Scholars pathway and its pathway-specific requirements.
CODA granted the DMD initial accreditation in August 2023. A second site visit occurred April 28–30, 2026, but the current official school accreditation page still reports initial accreditation; do not label it full approval absent a later CODA action. The first class graduates in 2028, so Fall 2027 entrants are not the inaugural class.
Practice and next step
Complete a timed recording about adapting a plan when new evidence changes a patient or team need. Ask a reviewer to score whether the response identifies the signal, explains a deliberate adjustment and stays concise under pressure. Make one adjustment, record a second attempt and compare clarity and self-awareness.
Frequently asked questions
Does High Point use ADEA AADSAS?
No. Applicants use HPU's own free Slate application and pay only the Kira assessment cost, estimated at $50.
Is the DAT required?
No. Workman does not collect or review DAT scores.
Are prerequisites required?
The regular DMD publishes recommended coursework rather than a fixed prerequisite list, but a U.S. bachelor’s degree and GPA eligibility apply.
Is the interview virtual?
Kira is remote and asynchronous, but the subsequent interview day is in person only.
What is the DMD's CODA status?
The current official page reports initial accreditation. A 2026 site visit occurred, but no later status is published in the sources reviewed.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
