Admission requirements

Applicants must earn a bachelor's by June 2027 from an accredited U.S. college or university located in the United States. Required courses must be completed there with C or better by June: chemistry 14 semester hours including at least 4 organic, biological science 6, physics 6, English 6 and one biochemistry course. Required science courses need labs except biochemistry. Junior-college work is allowed, though four-year study is recommended. AP does not directly satisfy requirements; applicants may replace basic AP science or English with specified upper-level work. Requirements

UIC requires the U.S. DAT taken within two years before application submission and does not accept the Canadian DAT. It publishes no minimum DAT or GPA. Three AADSAS letters are required, or one committee letter; two academic references, preferably science, and one non-relative dental professional are strongly recommended. A hundred or more U.S. dental-practice shadowing hours are recommended, not a hard minimum. Community service is expected, and research exposure is encouraged.

UIC accepts applications from students who currently live in the United States and hold valid visa status. Illinois residents receive strong preference. The regular DMD is a separate identity from DMD Advanced Standing for internationally trained dentists. Requirements

ADEA AADSAS opened May 12, 2026 and first accepted submissions June 2. UIC requires both the AADSAS and UIC supplemental by December 1, 2026; the supplemental costs $85 and may take up to two weeks to post. UIC uses rolling review and gives preference to earlier applications. ADEA How to apply

The requirements page generically says applications open June 1, which conflicts with ADEA's official May 12 opening and June 2 first-submission dates. This packet uses ADEA for service-wide dates and UIC for its December 1 school deadlines.

Virtual interviews run September 2026-March 2027. UIC says all applicants receive a final decision no later than April 2027. The bachelor's and prerequisites are due by June 2027. Exact Fall 2027 orientation, first class day, offer dates and deposit terms are not published on the reviewed admissions pages.

How selection works

UIC uses rolling selection based on completed and planned coursework, academic credentials, evaluations and information obtained through the application and interview. Who this program may suit

UIC's regular DMD is a full-time, year-round four-year programme with a fall start in Chicago. Its curriculum uses case-based small-group learning, patient-centred clinical care, evidence-based practice, communication, collaboration and community engagement.
