Admission requirements

A bachelor's degree is required, and Katz prefers at least 90 semester hours from a U.S. or Canadian university. There are no absolute course prerequisites, but biology, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, psychology and sociology are recommended, together with humanities and strong writing. Only courses completed at U.S. or Canadian universities are evaluated. How to apply

For entering 2027, Katz accepts MCATs from 2024, 2025 and 2026, with September 2026 the last accepted administration; the most recent results are considered. Casper is required for the same cycle, with accepted test dates from March 19, 2026 through January 5, 2027. Katz does not use DUET or AAMC PREview. Letters can be a premedical committee letter, a school compilation packet or three to six individual letters. For packets or individuals, Katz prefers but does not require two letters from biology, chemistry or physics professors and one from a nonscience professor, work or service setting. How to apply

How selection works

Katz uses individualized holistic review of the complete application to select interviewees. It considers academic history, college, MCAT, Casper, recommendations, extracurricular and work experience, medical exposure, community service, research and personal attributes aligned with its competency domains. After interview, decisions are released at four points in the season. Some applicants enter a continuing-candidate list and can be reconsidered after April 30. Katz does not publish numeric component weights, screening thresholds, Casper cutoffs, interview scoring anchors or committee-vote rules.
