Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
For regular post-baccalaureate entry, LMU says applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution, complete ADEA AADSAS and the LMU supplemental, and submit three recommendations. One letter must come from a predental advisory committee or science professor; LMU prefers the others from dental or medical professionals or writers who can address integrity and ethical standards. Family letters are not accepted. Current LMU DMD catalog
Published prerequisites are eight semester hours each of general biology, general or inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and English; labs are required for the science prerequisites. Anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology and histology are recommended at four hours each. The catalog describes minimum cumulative and science GPAs above 3.00 while also saying 3.33 is generally competitive and then states 3.33 minimums; because those sentences conflict, applicants should confirm the operative threshold with LMU rather than treating either figure as an automatic screen.
The DAT must be no more than three years old. LMU's current catalog still expresses desired DAT scores on the former two-digit scale: 19 Academic Average and 19 Reading Comprehension. It does not publish a current 200-600 conversion, so this page does not convert or restate that as a current-scale threshold. Applicants also need 60 general-dentist observation or shadowing hours before entry and must meet technical, background-check, drug-screen and immunization requirements after an offer.
Important dates
ADEA AADSAS opened May 12, 2026 and accepted first submissions June 2 for the 2026-27 cycle; the centralized application closes February 5, 2027. LMU recommends applying through both AADSAS and its portal during the summer before the applicant's final undergraduate year. ADEA AADSAS dates LMU programme page
The current LMU sources do not publish a school-specific Fall 2027 application deadline, supplemental deadline or fee, interview season, offer date or Class of 2031 orientation date. The current academic calendar shows Fall 2027 classes for continuing cohorts beginning August 16, 2027, but it does not identify the incoming Class of 2031 start; that date should not be inferred.
How selection works
LMU's current catalog publishes approximate thirds: academic performance accounts for about one-third of the final score, DAT results about one-third, and motivation, experience, recommendations, community service and the interview evaluation about one-third. The Admissions Committee reviews the ranking formula, weights and scoring before every cycle. Current LMU DMD catalog
Applicants should therefore prepare evidence of academic readiness, a genuine understanding of dentistry's humanitarian responsibilities, people and service orientation, motivation, commitment and communication. The current source does not publish the exact point scale, file screen, interview threshold, committee vote rule, residency preference or wait-list ordering.
Interview details
Confirmed
Participation in an interview with the LMU College of Dental Medicine Admissions Committee is required, and the programme page says the interview occurs on the LMU campus. The current catalog says applicants receive directions for a required essay before interview scheduling and that the interview evaluation contributes within the nonacademic third of the published selection model. Not published
LMU does not publish the Fall 2027 interview dates, whether the regular post-baccalaureate interview is individual, panel or station based, the number or duration of conversations, interviewer identities or file access, prompts, rubric, scoring scale, accommodations or travel support.
Who this program may suit
LMU describes a patient-centred, clinically integrated curriculum based in Knoxville, with simulation, digital workflow and wet/dry laboratories, the CRET Innovation Center, mobile dentistry and community clinics. Applicants can connect their general-dentist observation and service record to what they learned about patient responsibility and community oral health. LMU DMD programme This page covers regular post-baccalaureate DMD entry, not LMU's direct freshman BS-to-DMD pathway, DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, dental hygiene or postgraduate training.
Practice and next step
Record a response about one observation or service experience that changed how you understand a dentist's responsibility to a patient. Ask a reviewer whether you make your own role clear, identify a concrete lesson and connect it to LMU's community-facing clinical model. Make one adjustment, record a second attempt and compare specificity and reflection.
Frequently asked questions
Does LMU award a DDS?
No. LMU names its regular predoctoral award Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry and uses the DMD abbreviation.
Is a bachelor's degree required?
The current catalog's regular post-baccalaureate pathway requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution. Direct freshman BS-to-DMD is a separate pathway.
What DAT score is required on the current scale?
LMU's current catalog still gives desired scores of 19 on the former scale and does not publish a 200-600 equivalent. Applicants should confirm the current-scale expectation directly with Admissions.
Does LMU publish a Fall 2027 deadline?
No. The 2026-27 AADSAS dates are current, but LMU's current public catalog and programme page do not state a school-specific deadline.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
