Admission requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents or have approved DACA status when they apply. A bachelor's degree must be complete before matriculation, and all prerequisites must be complete by July 2027. Cycle 2027 application guide
The MCAT is required. For Cycle 2027, Stritch accepts scores from January 2024 through November 1, 2026. It publishes no minimum MCAT or GPA screen and considers all lifetime MCAT scores. The committee prefers the most recent Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems and Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems subsection scores at or above 125, but describes these as preferences rather than thresholds. Academic review also considers sustained rigor, trends and postbaccalaureate or graduate work. Requirements
Required coursework is nine biology credits including laboratory and 12 chemistry credits including laboratory and organic chemistry. Community-college, AP and Pass/Fail work do not satisfy those required biology or chemistry areas. Online work is considered case by case when an in-person option was unavailable or documented necessity exists. Physics and sociology or psychology are recommended rather than required; for those areas, community-college, AP, Pass/Fail and online credit are accepted. Applicants are expected to complete at least 30 credits across biology, chemistry, physics or math-based disciplines, with upper-level science preferred. Requirements
The secondary goes automatically to every AMCAS-verified applicant. It costs $115, with waivers available by formal request, and requires a two-inch-by-two-inch digital headshot. Stritch requires three to six recommendations through AMCAS, prefers a committee or composite letter and strongly recommends at least two science-faculty letters plus one letter from an MD physician. Interview invitations begin July 28, 2026 and are sent on a rolling basis. Available interview dates close as their seats fill. The secondary and its required materials are due December 11, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central. Stritch asks interviewed candidates to allow approximately four to six weeks for a status update, while decisions overall are rolling. Interview process Cycle 2027 application guide
The Commit to Enroll deadline is May 15, 2027. Orientation is July 26, and classes begin August 2. The current official guide does not publish a Plan to Enroll deadline, final interview date, final decision date or wait-list closure date. Cycle 2027 application guide
How selection works
Stritch first confirms citizenship or status, degree, MCAT and coursework eligibility, then reviews verified applications holistically. Its current materials emphasize academic preparation and trends, meaningful service and education experiences, empathy, integrity, responsibility, leadership, clinical exploration and alignment with the school's Jesuit commitments to service and social justice. Research is not stated as a requirement. Requirements MD FAQs
Qualified applicants are selected for interview after committee review. After the two interviews, the application proceeds through additional committee-review stages. The published outcomes are acceptance, continued consideration or a final non-acceptance decision. Stritch permits application updates, letters of interest and, after interview, letters of intent through its applicant portal. Interview process
The official pages do not publish quantitative weights for GPA, MCAT, experiences or interviews; interview-scoring anchors; committee vote rules; the number of admission offers; or wait-list ranking. The current interview page's prior-cycle geographic totals are descriptive and are not selection quotas.
Interview details
Confirmed
Cycle 2027 interview invitations begin July 28, 2026. Invited applicants use the portal to choose an available date and either in-person or virtual delivery. Both formats are available throughout the cycle; regional applicants are encouraged, but not required, to attend in person. All candidates complete the same core structure: two interviews, each lasting up to 45 minutes. Interview process
The first is a full-file interview with a faculty or Admissions Committee member who reviews the entire application. The second is a partial-file interview with faculty, admissions staff or a current medical student. That interviewer does not review MCAT, GPA, transcripts or letters. Interview days open with orientation and include other engagement activities; the in-person version includes student panels and campus or hospital tours, while the virtual version includes live student chat, virtual campus and financial-aid engagement and structured breaks. Interview process
Not published
The official Cycle 2027 pages do not publish interview questions, a fixed competency map, scoring anchors, numerical interview weight, interviewer-specific vote authority, exact decision-meeting mechanics or wait-list ordering. Candidate-specific scheduling and preparation instructions are communicated through the invitation and applicant portal.
Who this program may suit
Stritch presents its MD program through a Jesuit mission centered on human dignity, service, social justice and compassionate care. Applicants should connect that mission to specific choices they have made, the communities they served and what they learned about responsibility or unequal access. A generic statement about service does not show the same fit as a concrete example with reflection and follow-through. Mission
The regular MD admissions identity is Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood. Graduate, certificate, transfer and dual-degree processes have separate rules and should not be imported into this page. MD program
Practice and next step
Record a 90-second answer to: Which experience most changed your understanding of service, dignity or social justice in medicine, and how did it change what you did next? Use one concrete situation, your own decision, the consequence and the lesson you would bring to Stritch.
Review whether the answer proves sustained action rather than relying on mission language. Then have a partner conduct one full-file follow-up using your application and one partial-file follow-up without academic metrics. Tighten the weakest example and record the answer again, comparing clarity, evidence and reflection across both attempts.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
