How selection works
The Admissions Committee evaluates humanitarian qualities, overall excellence and experience. Published factors include recent grades and tests, recommendations, interview impressions, employment, leadership, community service, extracurricular work, honors and personal attributes. The committee includes faculty, fourth-year students, administrators and community members and meets about every three weeks. Selection criteria
After interview, the committee may accept, reject or defer a final decision. Offers continue until the entering class fills in spring. LSU's public mission centers Louisiana applicants, although qualified nonresidents can be admitted. Selection criteria
The school does not publish numerical weights, interview scoring anchors, voting thresholds or wait-list rank rules.

Who this program may suit
LSU Health New Orleans emphasizes educating competent, humanistic physicians and serving Louisiana across its geographic communities. Applicants should connect service and leadership to a concrete Louisiana or community health need and show the humanity, judgment and experience the committee names. Selection criteria
This is the New Orleans School of Medicine. A Baton Rouge clinical assignment for some third- and fourth-year students is part of the shared curriculum, not another admissions identity. LSU Health Shreveport remains a separate school. Curriculum
Practice and next step
Record a 90-second answer about one experience that shows both humanitarian concern and sound judgment. Review whether you explain the person or community affected, your decision and its consequence. Improve the weakest evidence and record it again, comparing whether the second response is more concrete and reflective.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
