Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
Every application meeting Lyon's published minimums receives a holistic full-file review. The minimums are a 2.8 science GPA in undergraduate or graduate work, a 370 DAT Academic Average, 90 total undergraduate credits and a C or higher in every prerequisite. DAT scores older than five years at application are not accepted. Admission criteria DAT policy
Prerequisites are three semester hours of English; 12 of biological sciences; six of general chemistry; six of organic chemistry; three of biochemistry in addition to the biology total; and six of physics. Biology may include courses such as general biology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, immunology, parasitology, and anatomy and physiology. Required courses
Applicants must show shadowing across multiple dental offices or clinics and health-care-related and other community service. A Health Professions Advisory Committee or pre-health programme-director letter satisfies the evaluation requirement; otherwise, two science-faculty letters are required. A third letter from another faculty member or a health professional is optional. Letters
Current sources do not publish regular-DMD citizenship or visa eligibility, a bachelor's-degree requirement, AP/CLEP/online/pass-fail rules, a latest DAT date, a secondary application or fee, or a school-specific AADSAS deadline. Applicants relying on any unpublished condition should obtain written confirmation from Lyon Admissions.
Important dates
The 2026-27 ADEA AADSAS application opened May 12, 2026 and first accepted submissions June 2. The centralized service closes February 5, 2027, but that is not a Lyon school deadline. Lyon's current catalogue confirms AADSAS use and a continuous academic calendar beginning around July 1, yet it does not publish its own application deadline, interview season, offer dates, deposit dates or exact Summer 2027 orientation/start day. The regular DMD consists of three consecutive 12-month academic years and six six-month terms. One catalogue page says academic years begin July 1, while financial-aid language says late June; use the admitted-student calendar for the exact start. Curriculum Financial aid calendar
How selection works
Lyon uses a comprehensive open-file review for applicants who meet the minimum gates. Published factors are overall academic performance with emphasis on the last 30 prerequisite-science credits, DAT results, advisor or professor evaluations, extramural achievements, interviews with Admissions Committee members and circumstances affecting academic performance. Lyon explicitly says no single criterion has a specific weight. Admission criteria
The school does not publish screening stages beyond the minimum gate and holistic review, quantitative weights, interview scoring, committee vote mechanics, class-allocation rules, wait-list procedure or decision timing. Its first class matriculated in 2025 after initial CODA accreditation in February 2025; those identity facts do not create an admissions preference or cycle deadline. Institutional history
Interview details
Confirmed
Interviews are part of the competitive review and are conducted by members of the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine Admissions Committee. The overall candidate assessment is described as comprehensive and open-file. Admission criteria
Not published
Current official sources do not publish the Summer 2027 interview season, invitation timing, modality or location, number or duration of encounters, panel size, whether every interviewer sees the full file, question format, manual-dexterity exercise, scoring anchors, interview weight or post-interview decision formula. Invitation instructions should control all candidate-specific logistics.
Who this program may suit
Lyon's three-year curriculum integrates oral and systemic medicine, interprofessional patient management, evidence-based care and service to underserved and vulnerable communities. It also emphasizes improving oral health in Arkansas and uses a paired-learner model in simulation and clinical education. Mission Guiding principles
A fit answer should connect a specific dental observation or service experience to access, whole-person health or collaborative care, then explain why a continuous 36-month curriculum fits the applicant's learning habits. This page covers the regular AADSAS predoctoral DMD in Little Rock; Lyon's undergraduate 3+3 and 4+3 early-admission pathways have separate rules and should not be imported.
Practice and next step
Record a response about an oral-health barrier you observed in a clinic or community setting and explain its systemic-health or access implications. Review the recording for unsupported claims and whether your example demonstrates service, teamwork and readiness for a continuous three-year curriculum. Adjust one weak point, record a shorter second attempt and compare precision, reflection and fit.
Frequently asked questions
What are Lyon's minimum review gates?
A 2.8 science GPA, a 370 DAT Academic Average, 90 undergraduate credits and C-or-better prerequisites. Meeting them triggers full-file review; it does not guarantee interview or admission. Admission criteria
How long is the regular DMD?
Thirty-six continuous months across three academic years and six six-month terms. Curriculum
When is the Summer 2027 application deadline?
Lyon's current catalogue confirms AADSAS but does not publish a school-specific 2026-27 deadline. Do not substitute AADSAS's February 5 closing date for the school's deadline.
Is this the Lyon 3+3 or 4+3 pathway?
No. This is the regular predoctoral DMD application. Lyon undergraduate early-admission pathways are separate.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
