Admission requirements

Marquette requires at least 90 semester or 135 quarter hours from an accredited college or university. A bachelor's degree is not mandatory but is generally preferred. Required courses are eight hours each of general or inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and biology, all with laboratory; six English; and three biochemistry at a four-year institution. The DAT is required. Marquette considers the most recent attempt and accepts the Canadian DAT, but publishes no minimum or score-age rule for regular DDS applicants. Three recommendations are required: two from science professors and one from an applicant-selected evaluator, or a committee letter in place of the three. Applicants then pay a $45 school processing fee. Current regular-DDS sources do not publish a shadowing-hour minimum.

International students may apply to the regular DDS and must document English proficiency and, after admission, the financial resources and legal arrangements required for enrollment. Separate rules for foreign-trained dentists seeking advanced standing do not apply here.

ADEA AADSAS opened May 12, 2026 and accepted first submissions June 2. Marquette advises completing the AADSAS file, DAT, recommendations and school fee by September 1 for optimal consideration. Nonresident virtual interviews are September 18, 21, 25 and 28 and October 2, 5, 9, 12 and 16, 2026. Resident interviews are October 30 and November 2 and 6. Additional dates are January 22 and 25, 2027. Current ADEA timing permits first offers December 15, 2026; classes begin in August, but the exact 2027 date is not published.

How selection works

Marquette reviews institution quality, course rigor, academic trend, DAT performance, orientation to dentistry, motivation and values, extracurricular activity, leadership, service and personal interview. The entering class is intentionally allocated 50 Wisconsin residents and 50 nonresidents. This is a seat allocation, not merely a tuition distinction. Marquette does not publish academic cutoffs, quantitative weights, DAT threshold, interview scoring or weight, committee voting rules or alternate-pool order.
