Clinic appointment access and fairness

Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Quick facts

  • Program: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Location: Hagerstown, Maryland.
  • Application: AACOMAS, then MSOM secondary; current pages show conflicting secondary-fee amounts, so verify the portal.
  • Letters: Two recommendation letters are required.
  • Cycle note: 2026-2027 policy/catalog context; confirm year-specific dates. Source: https://msom.org/admissions/how-to-apply

Admission requirements

Meritus requires AACOMAS, official transcripts, a bachelor's degree from an accredited US institution by the stated matriculation deadline, and prerequisite courses completed with C or better. The requirements page lists English, biology with lab, general chemistry with lab, physics with lab and organic chemistry with lab; anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and physiology are highly preferred. MCAT scores are required; for the 2026-2027 cycle exams from January 1, 2023 onward are accepted. Two letters are required, including science or premedical-advisor evidence. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Source: https://msom.org/admissions/admissions-requirements

Important dates

The current admissions policy says AACOMAS applications are due March 1 and recommends early submission because admissions are rolling. The page does not label that date as Fall 2027. Secondary timing, interview dates and matriculation dates should be confirmed in the live MSOM portal. How selection works

MSOM reviews verified AACOMAS files, invites qualified applicants to a secondary, then screens academic achievement, clinical involvement, interpersonal skills, leadership, service, perseverance, maturity, motivation and knowledge of osteopathic medicine before interview invitations. Interview details

Confirmed

Meritus confirms that applicants who pass admissions screening may be invited to interview. The current first-party pages do not publish modality, duration, station count, scoring rubric or a Fall 2027 question list. Source: https://msom.org/admissions/how-to-apply

Not published

Do not call the interview an MMI, panel or virtual event without a current official format page.

Who this program may suit

Meritus emphasizes mission fit, service, professionalism and preparation to care for real communities. Applicants should connect clinical or service experiences to rural and medically underserved communities while meeting academic and citizenship requirements. Practice and next step

First practice: Use the linked general ethics prompt to practise a service-and-stakeholder response. Record a timed spoken answer, review feedback tied to the recording, choose one weakness, adjust the answer, record it again, and compare both attempts. This is general practice, not a Meritus question.
