Admission requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have DACA status; complete at least 90 college hours, with at least 60 from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution; and take the MCAT. Michigan requests 3–4 letters through AMCAS. It does not prescribe specific undergraduate courses, but requires foundational competency in humanities and social sciences, life and physical sciences, statistics, analytical thinking, communication, ethics, teamwork, cultural humility, and related physician competencies. Secondary applications are sent to candidates at or above the 35th-percentile MCAT threshold; applicants below it may be screened for excellence within Michigan’s competencies. For the official 2026–27 cycle, the primary AMCAS deadline is September 15 and the secondary deadline is October 15; the secondary fee is $95. First MD interview invitations begin in early August. How selection works
Michigan uses multiple holistic reviews of complete primary and secondary files, which can take several months and may include on-hold time. Candidates receive an interview offer, preliminary screening, or file-closed outcome; after interview, decisions are rolling and may be admission, deferred decision, waitlist, or file closed. Letters need not be present for MD review to begin, though 3–4 letters are designated for post-interview review. MD Admissions

Get to Know Blue includes a required Michigan Monday Night Live session from 8–9 p.m. ET, a required half-day interview day from noon–5 p.m. ET, presentations, Q&A, two 30-minute interviews with Admissions Committee members, and six 6-minute short-form interaction stations with the Medical School community.
