Admission requirements

The current 2026-27 Illinois catalog says a bachelor's from an accredited college or university and total and biology-chemistry-physics science GPAs of at least 3.00 are preferred competitive preparation, not absolute eligibility cutoffs. Required courses, each completed with C or better, are biology with lab 8 semester hours; general chemistry with lab 8; organic chemistry with lab 4; anatomy 3; microbiology 3; physics 8; physiology 3; biochemistry 3; and English composition or technical writing 6. All candidates submit the U.S. DAT; the Canadian DAT is not listed as accepted. Midwestern prefers current-scale Academic Average 370, Reading Comprehension 340, Perceptual Ability 360 and Total Science 380 or higher. These are preferred levels, not stated hard minimums. Scores must be no more than three years old at matriculation.

The cycle-specific catalog requires three evaluator-submitted letters: one from a predental committee or science professor, one from a DDS or DMD, and one addressing integrity and ethical standards. Family letters are not accepted. The general programme landing page summarizes a minimum of two letters, creating a conflict; this packet follows the more specific 2026-27 catalog. The general 2026-27 Downers Grove admissions policy permits international applicants but requires at least 30 U.S. or eligible English-language Canadian semester hours, including 15 science, 6 English composition and 3 speech hours; foreign coursework may require a course-by-course evaluation. Important dates

ADEA AADSAS opened May 12, 2026 and first accepted submissions June 2. The current Midwestern Illinois catalog sets January 1 as the initial AADSAS deadline and February 1 as the supporting-document deadline. Review, interview invitations and decisions occur on a rolling basis until the class is filled. Applicants must answer an interview invitation within three days. No offer is communicated before the earliest date allowed by the dental-school traffic guidelines.

How selection works

Midwestern uses rolling review within a competitive framework. Admissions Committee members assess academic coursework, DAT, AADSAS essays, evaluations, interviews, dental experience and community service. Interviewers rate candidates on a standardized evaluation form against predetermined criteria and send evaluations to the committee chair. The chair recommends accept, deny or alternate-list status to the Dean, who makes and communicates the official decision.

The school does not publish numerical weights, the academic screen formula, detailed interview criteria or score anchors, committee voting rules, Dean override rules, alternate-list order or the share of seats by residence. Who this program may suit

This page covers the regular in-person, four-year DMD at the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois in Downers Grove. Midwestern's College of Dental Medicine-Arizona in Glendale has a separate application identity, requirements and campus.
