Admission requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. The school gives preference to Mississippi residents, may decline to consider a nonresident application and states that in recent years it has not been possible to admit nonresidents. Residency is determined through the UMMC secondary and, when requested, supporting documents rather than AMCAS alone. Mississippi residency

Applicants need at least 90 acceptable semester hours from accredited U.S. institutions and should be on track to finish a bachelor's degree. Under the standard endpoint option, required courses are one semester of biochemistry, one semester of Physics 2 and two approved upper-level life-science courses. Certain Mississippi institutions may use approved competency maps. The MCAT is required within three years of application. The current official pages publish a minimum 3.3 BCPM GPA for file review and interview consideration, but do not state a current-cycle minimum MCAT. How selection works
