Admission requirements

Applicants need a VMCAS cumulative GPA of at least 3.00; repeated-course grades are averaged. They must complete 60 semester hours at a regionally accredited U.S. institution, including six hours of composition/communication, college algebra or higher, biochemistry after organic chemistry, a two-course physics sequence, ten hours of biological science and ten hours of social science/humanities. Only two prerequisite courses may remain pending in the winter/spring before matriculation. Required courses need C- or better; ordinary pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory work does not count outside the published 2020 exception. Application requirements Prerequisites

Missouri requires at least 40 hours observing one or more veterinarians in their normal work setting. Three VMCAS recommendations are required, including at least one veterinarian; up to six may be submitted. The $110 supplemental application and fee are additional to VMCAS. How selection works

Missouri says the actual process may vary annually but publishes a holistic model with academic scoring worth 40% and nonacademic scoring worth 60%. Academic scoring uses cumulative GPA, the last three full-time undergraduate semesters and average course load excluding summers. The cumulative minimum is 3.00. Current selection process

Nonacademic review considers motivation and understanding of veterinary medicine, animal/veterinary/biomedical research/public-health experience, communication, leadership, extracurricular activity, work while enrolled, life experiences, qualities or strengths and overall impression. All Missouri residents who meet requirements and submit a complete verified application with any required residency proof are invited to interview. Missouri applicants receive resident treatment under the university's residency rules. Nonresident positions vary with the annual applicant pools. An Arkansas agreement may reduce tuition for qualifying Arkansas residents, but the current page does not describe this as a separate admissions pool or reserved-seat contract.
