Admission requirements

Applicants must have 90 college credits toward a bachelor’s at application and be eligible to enrol after completing 120 credits and/or a bachelor’s degree. The minimum science-and-math GPA is 3.0; 3.4 or higher is preferred and 3.6 is the published accepted-student average. The current DAT Academic Average minimum is 350, 370 is preferred and 420 is the published accepted-student average. Averages and preferred values are not eligibility guarantees. Requirements

Prerequisites must be complete by the spring before entry. One-semester courses, with labs when offered, are general biology, anatomy or the A&P sequence, physiology or the A&P sequence, biochemistry, and one of cell biology, histology, microbiology or molecular biology. Two-semester sequences, with labs when offered, are general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and English composition or other writing-intensive courses.

UMKC strongly suggests 80–100 hours across at least three general or specialty dental offices, and active ongoing service across at least three activities. It requires at least three individual recommendations or one pre-health committee letter; without a committee, at least one faculty and one dentist letter are required.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals with a visa permitting permanent residence, except separate UMKC-Kuwait and Advanced Standing provisions. Missouri residents receive first consideration. Kansas, Arkansas, New Mexico and Hawaii residents receive preferred consideration; other-state applicants are considered individually when highly qualified.

ADEA’s 2026–27 AADSAS application opened May 12, 2026 and first accepted submissions June 2. UMKC’s current page lists September 1 as the priority AADSAS deadline and recommends applying in June or July because processing can take six weeks. It does not state a year or a final application deadline, so Fall 2027 applicants should confirm both. Requirements
