Admission requirements
Applicants need at least 90 semester hours and are strongly encouraged to complete a four-year degree. The 2026-27 catalog lists two semesters each of English composition, general chemistry with lab, general biology with lab, organic chemistry with lab and general physics with lab, with humanities or social-science breadth; advanced biosciences are recommended. The DAT is required. UNMC publishes no absolute minimum GPA or DAT score, though the catalog recommends 390 or higher on all new-scale DAT sections. Selection considers cumulative and science GPA, DAT, campus/community/dental involvement including shadowing, state residence and letters. Two to three recommendations are encouraged.
U.S. citizens and resident aliens may be considered. The catalog also permits nonimmigrant applicants to be considered if they provide foreign records, financial evidence, TOEFL 575 paper or 95 internet with no subsection below 20, and at least one academic year at an accredited U.S. institution. All applicants must be legal residents of a state at application.

ADEA's 2026-27 AADSAS application opened May 12, 2026 and first accepted submissions June 2. UNMC's current admissions page calls October 1 the early application deadline and describes June-October submission; its 2026-27 catalog separately lists February 1 as the AADSAS deadline. Invited interviews occur August-November 2026, with first-round decisions in December. The DDS starts in August 2027. Exact interview dates, final completion deadline and first class date are not published.

The Admissions Committee reviews academic preparation, cumulative and science GPA, DAT, campus and community participation, dental-career involvement such as shadowing, state residence and recommendations.
