Admission requirements

Applicants may apply while completing undergraduate work but must earn a bachelor's degree before matriculation. Required courses must be taken at, or accepted as transfer credit by, an accredited U.S. or Canadian college and count toward an arts or sciences bachelor's degree. An online bachelor's degree is not accepted. Admissions

Prerequisites are two semesters of English, two of general biology with lab, two of general physics with lab, two of general chemistry with lab, one of organic chemistry with lab and one of biochemistry with or without lab. The current page accepts AP credit recorded by the institution. Its special acceptance of Pass/Fail and online coursework is limited to Winter and Spring 2020 and should not be generalized. The MCAT is required, and only scores from January 2024 through September 2026 are accepted for the current cycle. The committee reviews the most recent score. NYMC publishes no numeric GPA or MCAT minimum; its 3.6 average GPA and 90th-percentile median MCAT describe a typical first-year class and are not thresholds. Admissions

A premedical committee letter is preferred. Without one, three letters are required: two from science faculty and one academically oriented letter, with at least one letter from the applicant's major department. Graduate students have an additional graduate committee or faculty-letter requirement. All required letters go through AMCAS. Supplemental

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, unconditional permanent residents, DACA recipients or Canadian citizens. All other international applicants are ineligible. Canadian citizens and other eligible non-U.S. applicants should review the school's tuition prepayment, escrow and co-signer rules. Admissions

Important dates

Regular applicants submit AMCAS between June 1 and December 15 before entry. The supplemental application, required letters, 2026–27 Casper result and $135 fee or AAMC Fee Assistance waiver must be complete by midnight Eastern on January 31. Admissions Supplemental

The current official Casper schedule runs from March 19, 2026 through January 5, 2027. NYMC advises completing it early. Interviews run from late or mid-September through March, decisions are rolling and post-interview decisions typically arrive within four to six weeks. Waitlist decisions may continue from April through July, and the program begins in late July. Admissions Supplemental

How selection works

NYMC reviews completed applications holistically. It considers academic preparation and MCAT alongside professionalism, altruism, compassion, empathy, honesty, integrity, cultural competency, ethical grounding, extracurricular and community experience, research, work, obstacles overcome, recommendations, the personal statement, Casper and, when applicable, MMI impressions. The admissions committee selects on a rolling basis. Its waitlist is unranked; when a place opens, all waitlisted applicants are reconsidered. Admissions

The school does not publish screening thresholds, numerical component weights, Casper cutoffs, MMI scoring anchors, committee-vote rules or a formula for reconsidering the unranked waitlist.

Completed applications under serious consideration receive a virtual interview invitation. Interviews generally run from late September through March. The day begins at 10:50 a.m. and ends around 4:00 p.m., with orientation and presentations before the MMI. Admissions

NYMC uses a circuit of short, timed MMI scenario stations. Scenarios are not knowledge-based or necessarily clinical and assess AAMC interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies. Admissions
