NOSM MD Admissions (Fall 2027)

NOSM University’s UME Doctor of Medicine program uses a context-sensitive, socially accountable admissions process in Northern Ontario. The current admissions page describes the OMSAS application, general and pathway streams, GPA and context screening, and a later interview stage. It gives annual timing rather than a Fall 2027-specific date set, so applicants must confirm the current OMSAS deadline and invitation instructions.

Admission requirements

All applicants apply through OMSAS and must submit the required materials by the stated deadline. NOSM initially considers applicants through the General Admission Stream unless they select an Indigenous, Francophone, Black, or other listed stream; the MMTP stream is currently paused. Stream-specific requirements must be checked separately. Application requirements

NOSM says it does not require the MCAT or CaSPR. Its current selection page says applications are initially screened using GPA and Context Score, weighted equally. Applicants must still meet the current minimum requirements, expected courses, references and application documentation. Selection process

The public pages describe annual OMSAS timing rather than a dated Fall 2027 checklist. Monitor NOSM and OMSAS for the current deadline, document rules, stream definitions and any changes before applying.

Important dates

  • Mid-July each year: OMSAS application opens according to NOSM’s current admissions page.
  • First week of October each year: Application deadline for admission the following September, according to the current page; confirm the exact Fall 2027 OMSAS date and time.
  • January of the potential enrolment year: Interview-invitation notifications are sent by email according to NOSM’s selection page.
  • February–March: The current page lists 2026 online MMI and panel dates; do not carry those dates forward as Fall 2027 facts.
  • Second Tuesday of May of the potential enrolment year: Decision notifications are sent to interviewed applicants according to the current selection page.
  • June 30 of the potential enrolment year: Final undergraduate or graduate degree transcripts are due where an offer is conditional.

Dates are annual or prior-cycle references unless NOSM or OMSAS publishes a Fall 2027 label. Application requirements Selection process

How selection works

NOSM’s current selection page says GPA and Context Score are weighted equally in the initial screen, and approximately 350 top-ranked applicants are invited to interview. Final offers combine an approximate 32% pre-interview score, a 68% interview score, and a complete file review that includes the CAF, ABS and academic history. NOSM says MCAT and CaSPR are not considered. Selection process

Applicants may be assessed through General, Indigenous, Francophone, Black, or other listed streams. Stream choice can change documentation and evaluation, so do not treat the general page as a substitute for pathway-specific rules. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview.

Interview details

Confirmed

NOSM’s current selection page describes an online MMI and panel interview for the 2026 UME cycle. It says interview invitations are sent in January, and the current page lists MMI and panel components. Selection process

Not published

The public pages reviewed do not publish Fall 2027 interview dates, current platform details, station count, timing, questions, scoring rubric, or invitation-specific technical instructions. Treat the listed 2026 interview dates as prior-cycle information and follow the current invitation package.

Who this program may suit

NOSM may suit applicants drawn to distributed medical education, Northern Ontario communities, and a selection process that explicitly uses context and social accountability. The first two years are assigned to Sudbury or Thunder Bay, while learning extends across remote and regional communities. This is an interpretation of published program structure, not an admissions prediction. NOSM MD program Selection process

Applicants should weigh the campus-assignment policy, stream-specific requirements, geographic distribution and community commitments against their own location and learning constraints.

Practice and next step

Use the linked recommended interview/MMI practice prompt about fair access under pressure. Record a first response that names the affected people, asks what context you need, explains a fair decision rule, and communicates the next step with empathy.

Review the recording for one weakness—such as treating context as irrelevant, jumping to a solution, or leaving the decision unclear. Make one adjustment, record the response again, and compare the attempts for clarity, context awareness, fairness and accountability.
