Admission requirements

Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and a required-course GPA of at least 2.80 before the fall application and must maintain those levels through the cycle. They may apply with no more than two semesters of prerequisites remaining, but all requirements must be complete by June 1, 2027. Required courses earning less than C must be repeated by the end of the fall term. C-minus does not satisfy a prerequisite. Required mathematics and sciences must be within eight years of matriculation, and upper-level sciences must be completed at a four-year institution. Current requirements

The prerequisite contract includes animal nutrition, biochemistry, biology with laboratories, general chemistry with laboratories, English, genetics, humanities or social sciences, microbiology with laboratory, organic chemistry with laboratory, physics with laboratories and statistics. A bachelor's degree is not required.

Three recommendations are required, including one from a veterinarian who supervised or worked with the applicant. Oklahoma State says the GRE and Casper are no longer required beginning with the 2025–26 cycle. Current pages do not publish another standardized-test requirement for the regular DVM.

How selection works

Oklahoma State describes quantitative review of cumulative and required-course performance and the applicant's course load. Qualitative review includes veterinary experience, personal background, essays and recommendations; for Oklahoma residents, the interview is also considered.
