Admission requirements

Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent. OHSU no longer requires specific prerequisite courses and instead recommends the AAMC's professional, science, thinking and reasoning competencies, including communication, service, teamwork, living systems, human behavior, quantitative reasoning and scientific inquiry. The MCAT is required; Casper is no longer required. The live page says academic and MCAT qualifiers can change by cycle, but its displayed 2.80 GPA, 497 MCAT and 2022–25 score window are explicitly for the 2026 admissions cycle. OHSU requires three letters from college or university teaching faculty, including at least one science faculty member. A packet of at least three faculty letters or committee evaluation can substitute. Applicants out of college at least five years can submit two employer letters and one teaching-faculty letter. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or have DACA status. Permanent residents are encouraged to have at least one year of full-time U.S. college or university coursework. Admissions

Important dates

For 2027 applicants, the OHSU secondary becomes available in August after verified AMCAS processing. The current admissions overview lists AMCAS from May through October 15, rolling secondaries from August through December, interviews from September through February, initial offers from mid-October through April 30 and alternate offers beginning May 1. Accepted applicants must Commit to Enroll at least 21 days before orientation, which is typically in August. Exact Fall 2027 secondary, letter, MCAT, orientation and Commit to Enroll dates are not published on the current page. Admissions

How selection works

OHSU evaluates academic record, MCAT, recommendations, motivation, communication, life-enriching experiences, problem solving, maturity, understanding of health care or biomedical research and interest in rural health, underserved areas and primary care. It gives strong preference to Oregon residents, nonresidents with Oregon Heritage, selected nonresidents with outstanding academic and experiential achievement, applicants with adversity or personal inequity experience and WICHE-certified applicants. After interview, OHSU assigns a priority score based on admissions committee score, MMI scores and academics. Applicants may be accepted, held or denied; all initial offers are made by May 1, after which a ranked alternate list of roughly 120–200 applicants is used in order. Admissions
