Admission requirements
Applicants need a minimum 3.00 science GPA and grades of C-minus or better in prerequisites. A bachelor's degree is not required. No more than two prerequisites may remain incomplete at application; all must be finished by August 1, 2027, with final transcripts due August 15, 2027. Oregon State accepts accredited online courses and laboratories, does not expire prerequisites, and says international coursework must be articulated on a U.S. 4.0 scale. Academic requirements
Current prerequisite areas include general biology, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics or statistics, physiology and advanced biological sciences, alongside writing, communication and humanities or social science preparation. Applicants should use the official course table for exact credits and substitutions.
Casper is required. Oregon State identifies U.S. Casper test 2 CSP-20100, lasting about 65 to 85 minutes and using open-response scenarios to assess personal and professional skills. The GRE is not required; the current instructions list optional submission. International applicants may need TOEFL depending on their educational and language history.
Important dates
Oregon State's current Fall 2027 timeline says VMCAS and integrated supplemental questions are due September 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The $60 supplemental payment is handled through the applicant portal. The last published Casper date is August 25, 2026. Decisions are expected between December 2026 and February 2027, and the national offer-acceptance deadline is April 15, 2027. Current Fall 2027 timeline
Prerequisites must be complete by August 1, 2027 and final transcripts are due August 15, 2027. Orientation and classes are expected in September 2027, with exact dates not yet published.
The timeline currently labels supplemental availability as May 7, 2027 even though it sits before a September 2026 deadline, and one instruction step still shows a September 15, 2025 date. Those conflicts are source defects; use the repeatedly published September 15, 2026 deadline and do not silently repair the May date.
How selection works
Oregon State describes holistic review of academic performance, upper-level science work, course load, work and family demands and obstacles overcome. Nonacademic review includes integrity, maturity, analytical skill, motivation, interpersonal and communication skills, compassion, service, leadership, recommendations, essays, veterinary knowledge and experience, diversity and Casper. No numerical weights are published. Current selection criteria
There is no fixed veterinary-hour minimum, though the school says 400 or more hours is generally competitive. The programme has approximately 96 seats, about half for Oregon residents and half for nonresidents. Residency is determined at admission and generally cannot be established after enrolment. The dean makes final decisions based on committee recommendations.
This page covers the regular Corvallis DVM. Graduate, combined-degree and other special pathways are excluded.
Interview details
Confirmed
All applicants must complete Casper, an online open-response situational-judgment assessment lasting approximately 65 to 85 minutes. Oregon State says it measures personal and professional skills used in holistic review. The last published Fall 2027 Casper date is August 25, 2026. Application instructions
Not published
Current regular-DVM pages do not publish a live applicant interview for Fall 2027, interview invitations, interviewer roles, interview modality or a separate spoken assessment. They also do not publish Casper's exact school-level weight, scenario count, scoring rubric or how an individual score changes a decision. Prepare for the required recorded/open-response Casper contract, not an assumed live interview.
Who this program may suit
Oregon State may fit applicants seeking a Corvallis DVM with approximately equal Oregon-resident and nonresident representation and holistic consideration beyond grades. The school accepts online prerequisites, does not require a bachelor's degree and publishes no minimum veterinary-hour threshold, while still saying that 400 or more hours is generally competitive. DVM programme
Applicants should be comfortable with a required online open-response assessment. The review explicitly values communication, maturity, compassion, service, leadership and other professional qualities, but the school does not publish numerical factor weights.
Practice and next step
Record a concise response about feedback that changed your approach in veterinary work, animal care, research, service, employment or teamwork. Review whether you identify the feedback, the adjustment you made and the result without overexplaining. Then record a second attempt that makes the professional judgment and learning clearer. Use this to practise concise open responses for Casper; do not assume Oregon State also conducts a live interview unless the school publishes one.
