Admission requirements

Purdue requires a VMCAS cumulative GPA of at least 3.10, including repeated-course grades. A lower submitted GPA is automatically denied. All college transcripts and at least three VMCAS recommendations are due September 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern; Purdue requests that one evaluator be a veterinarian. Current Fall 2027 application

The prerequisite framework includes two terms each of general chemistry with labs, organic chemistry with labs, general biology with labs and physics with labs; one term each of upper-division biochemistry, genetics, microbiology with lab, statistics, English composition and communication; three humanities terms; and a veterinary-careers course when available. Organic chemistry I and II with labs must be complete at application. Applicants may have no more than four other science/math prerequisites planned or in progress, and all requirements must be complete by the end of spring 2027. A bachelor's degree is not stated as an admission requirement. Purdue notes that a bachelor's or at least 72 college credits is necessary to qualify for federal financial aid as a professional student, not to matriculate. The current regular-DVM pages reviewed do not publish a GRE requirement, an experience-hour minimum, a separate supplemental application or a citizenship restriction.

A 2024 college news article describes an earlier cohort's half-day in-person sessions, but it is not evidence of the Fall 2027 format and is not used to fill those gaps.

Purdue may suit applicants seeking a four-year DVM at West Lafayette whose preparation includes broad science prerequisites, communication coursework and evidence of experience, leadership and written/verbal skill.
