Admission requirements

New York requires at least two years of college, although the school notes that few applicants without a bachelor's degree are successful. Required preparation is two semesters of biology with lab, including cell biology or genetics; at least four chemistry semesters spanning general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry, with at least three lab semesters; one English or writing semester; one physics semester with lab; one psychology, sociology, logic, ethics, anthropology or philosophy semester; and one statistics semester. Outstanding requirements must be completed with C or better before matriculation. Requirements

A composite pre-health advising letter is preferred. If no committee exists, applicants provide two instructor letters, at least one from a science instructor; additional letters are accepted and AMCAS allows up to 10. Out-of-state applicants are considered. International applicants are welcomed, but applicants other than Canadians must complete at least one year at a U.S. college or university; Canadian and DACA applicants may apply. Federal financial aid is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. FAQ

Casper must be taken by November 12 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, and the supplemental application and recommendations are due December 11. The accepted MCAT window is January 12, 2024 through the September 12, 2026 exam. First offers begin in mid-October and rolling decisions continue until interviews finish in mid-March. Waitlist offers may begin after May 1. FAQ

How selection works

Completed applications are prescreened by the associate and assistant deans. Applications meeting established but unpublished metrics proceed to trained veteran faculty for holistic review. Faculty assess recommendations, personal statement, supplemental responses, nonacademic activity, clinical and research activity, academic credentials, motivation for medicine and adversity; scored applications are ranked for interview. After two interviews, qualitative and quantitative evaluations go to the Executive Committee. The deans present interviewed applicants and any concerns, and the committee votes to admit, waitlist or decline.
