Current-cycle decision support
Turn confirmed information into a first practice
Clinic appointment access and fairness
Practise making a fair decision when access is limited. Review whether you identify missing information, weigh both patients' needs, and explain the next step clearly; then record the scenario again with one improvement.

Admission requirements
Applicants need a BA or BS and required premedical credits from a college-level institution accredited by the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education or a U.S. accrediting organization. The minimum AMCAS-calculated overall and science GPAs are both 3.00. Admissions
Required coursework is eight credits each of general or inorganic chemistry with labs, organic chemistry or biochemistry I and II with labs, general biology with labs and physics with labs; nine credits each of behavioral/social sciences, Spanish and English. The page explains acceptable Spanish CLEP and English composition, literature or intensive-writing substitutions. Online coursework is considered when offered by an eligible regionally accredited nonprofit institution. Admissions
The current page says an MCAT of 492 will be considered, the test must be no older than three years and January is the last MCAT considered in the application cycle. It does not attach a year to that January. Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English and Spanish. Admissions
Letters are either a required committee letter when the college has a designated committee or adviser, a school letter packet, or two science-professor letters when no committee/adviser exists, plus one community-leader or volunteer-work letter. The supplemental fee is $100. Admissions
The current regular-MD admissions page does not publish a citizenship or Puerto Rico residency restriction. The separate FAQ's international-student language is not cycle-labelled and is not used here to establish Fall 2027 eligibility.
Important dates
The live admissions page describes AMCAS submissions as accepted annually for the next application cycle and lists these dates without years: AMCAS opens June 1; Early Decision is due August 1 and notified October 1; interviews begin November 14; AMCAS and documents are due December 15; rolling offers begin January 17; Plan to Enroll opens February 19; Commit to Enroll is listed April 30; and applicants communicate commitment by May 1. Admissions
Because the page does not attach a cycle year to these dates, do not convert them to 2026 or 2027 in a submitted application plan without confirmation from SJBSM. The current page does not publish a Fall 2027 secondary deadline distinct from December 15, exact interview-season end, orientation or class-start date.
How selection works
SJBSM uses holistic review and rolling admission. After required credentials arrive, the Admissions Committee reviews the file and decides whom to interview. It considers academic metrics together with motivation, empathy, English and Spanish communication, cultural competence, problem solving, critical thinking, integrity, resilience, compassion and altruism. Admissions
The MMI assesses cultural sensitivity, problem solving and decision making, maturity, integrity, empathy, reliability and communication. The school does not publish numeric component weights, MCAT or GPA treatment above the minimums, station scoring anchors, standardized-patient rubrics or committee-vote rules.
Interview details
Confirmed
The interview uses four structured situational MMI stations with trained standardized patients and one one-on-one interview with an Admissions Committee member or trained interviewer. The day includes a tour of the San Juan Bautista Main Campus and a closing session with an admissions officer. Because the page identifies the Main Campus address as Caguas, the tour does not establish a San Juan interview location. Admissions
Not published
The current page does not publish each station's timing, preparation time, interviewer file access, exact interview-day duration, scoring rubric or numerical selection weight. It implies on-campus attendance through the campus tour but does not use an explicit modality label; invitation instructions control delivery and location.
Who this program may suit
SJBSM's stated emphasis is community health and physicians responsive to underserved and medically vulnerable populations. Its regular MD admissions process requires bilingual English and Spanish proficiency and assesses cultural competence, empathy, communication and service-oriented personal qualities. Admissions
The school currently describes its LCME status as fully accredited on probation. Applicants should read that current status directly and monitor any LCME update before matriculation. Accreditation disclosure
This guide covers first-year MD admission. Transfer admission is a separate pathway and its criteria are excluded.
Practice and next step
Record a concise response to a situational prompt involving language access, a community need or a conflict between two reasonable priorities. State the issue, identify who is affected, explain your first action and name what information you still need. Review whether empathy and judgment are visible, adjust one weak step, record a second attempt and compare clarity.

Recommended preparation
Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
