Admission requirements

Greenville prefers applicants who will hold a bachelor's or higher degree by enrollment but may admit someone with at least 90 semester hours of outstanding undergraduate achievement. Required coursework is eight credit hours of biology with lab; eight of general inorganic chemistry with lab; four of organic chemistry with lab; three of biochemistry without a lab requirement; four of physics with lab; and nine of humanities, social and behavioral sciences including at least one semester of English composition or literature. Prerequisites must be completed before matriculation and must use a traditional letter- or number-grade system. Requirements Required coursework

Transcripted AP or IB credit may satisfy requirements, although AP or IB biology must be supplemented with an advanced biology semester. Community or technical college credits can satisfy prerequisites, and accredited online courses may be acceptable, but the committee describes advanced four-year and classroom coursework as more competitive. Extension or evening courses count only when identical to the undergraduate college's regular offering. Required coursework

The MCAT is required and must be taken during or no more than two years before the application year. For the 2026-27 cycle, scores from 2024, 2025 and 2026 are accepted. A planned retake may be accepted through February 2027 if the test occurs no later than January 2027. No numeric GPA or MCAT minimum is published; the committee considers the highest composite while reviewing all attempts, section scores and trends. Requirements FAQ

Applicants need at least three and at most five recommendation letters through AMCAS; a premedical committee letter satisfies the minimum. A verified applicant receives an AMP supplemental invitation, and the $100 fee is waived for AAMC Fee Assistance Program recipients. Greenville accepts out-of-state applicants but only applications from U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Application steps FAQ

Who this program may suit

Greenville says it values service and seeks academic excellence, communication, integrity, empathy, teamwork, maturity, emotional stability, leadership, work ethic, self-direction and a demonstrated commitment to becoming a physician. Applicants should prepare specific evidence of action and reflection for those domains rather than repeating the values. Prepare for admission

USC Greenville is an independently accredited medical school with its own AMCAS application, admissions committee and Greenville campus. It must not be merged with the separate Floyd School of Medicine in Columbia. Current LCME accreditation runs through academic year 2028-29. LCME accreditation

Practice and next step

Record a 90-second response about a team, service or clinical experience that shows both what you achieved and how you worked with other people. Review it for one concrete decision, one observable result and one honest reflection. Then prepare a 45-second explanation of why Greenville's service and clinical-learning context connects to your own evidence.

Recommended preparation

Structured Interview Essentials

Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
