Admission requirements
Applicants must meet all three minimum GPAs: 2.90 overall, 3.10 over the last 45 semester hours and 2.90 science. They also need more than 100 hours of experience under direct veterinary supervision to qualify for an interview. These are eligibility thresholds, not competitive averages. Current eligibility requirements
All 46 prerequisite hours must be complete by the end of Spring 2027 with C or better and within 10 years. Organic Chemistry I with laboratory, Physics I with laboratory and Biochemistry must be completed or in progress by August 31 and finished by December 2026. Required areas include biology, microbiology, genetics, animal nutrition, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, statistics, physics, English and public speaking. Current prerequisites
Casper is required each cycle; Snapshot and Duet are not. The GRE is not used. Three evaluations are due August 31, including at least one from a veterinarian and none from family. Texas residents who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible. U.S. citizens or nationals from other states and territories may be considered for up to 10% of seats with superior credentials. International applicants are not considered, although some Texas residents completing permanent-residence processing may qualify if status is secured by January 15, 2027.
Important dates
TMDSAS opens May 1, 2026 and submission opens May 15. The last day to register for the final Casper date is August 20, and the last accepted test date is August 25. TMDSAS, three evaluations, the VMBS supplemental and the $75 fee are due August 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Daylight Time. Current Entry Year 2027 calendar
Applicant status updates are expected in November. Virtual Kira Talent MMIs are expected in December 2026, with the exact date still listed as TBD. Fall grades and proof of enrollment in remaining prerequisites are due January 4, 2027; Organic Chemistry I with laboratory, Physics I with laboratory and Biochemistry must already be complete by December 2026. Current pages do not publish the Entry Year 2027 final decision date, deposit deadline or class-start date.
How selection works
Texas A&M scores academic performance, veterinary and animal experience, extracurricular and leadership activity, personal statement, evaluations and MMI performance. The published formula assigns 38% to 43% to overall, last-45 and science GPAs; 10% to 15% to veterinary and animal experience; 20% to 25% to the MMI; and 20% to 25% to other achievements, activities and evaluations. Current selection formula
Applicants are ranked on their pre-interview score, and selected candidates complete the MMI. Texas A&M then calculates a final score for interviewed applicants. The school does not use rolling admission. The current Class of 2029 profile is 93.3% Texas residents; the formal eligibility page separately limits eligible non-Texas U.S. citizens or nationals to up to 10% of the class.
This page covers the standard College Station DVM. Texas A&M System partner agreements, transfer, combined-degree and graduate routes have separate requirements and are excluded.
Interview details
Confirmed
Selected applicants complete a virtual asynchronous MMI through Kira Talent. The process takes approximately one hour. Each question provides up to two minutes of preparation and four minutes to answer, followed by two minutes between questions; two independent evaluators score each response. The format assesses communication, critical thinking, problem solving, empathy and ethics. The MMI is 20% to 25% of the admissions formula. Current MMI format and weighting
Not published
The current Entry Year 2027 page lists the December 2026 interview date as TBD. It does not publish the exact question or station count, prompts, evaluator roles, file access, scoring anchors, invitation count, tie-breaking rules or final-decision date. Applicants should use Kira's school-provided technical setup and accommodation instructions after invitation.
Who this program may suit
Texas A&M may suit eligible applicants seeking a large four-year DVM in College Station whose selection makes academics and recorded MMI performance substantial parts of the final formula. It separately scores veterinary and animal experience and values the variety of environments, leadership and collaboration. DVM admissions
Residency is a material constraint. Texas residents dominate the class, eligible non-Texas U.S. citizens or nationals may fill no more than 10% of seats, and international applicants are not considered under the current standard pathway.
Practice and next step
Record a concise four-minute response about feedback that changed your approach in veterinary work, animal care, research, service, employment or teamwork. Review whether the feedback, adjustment and result demonstrate communication and judgment without repeating context. Then record a second attempt that uses the preparation time to choose one clear example and states the change sooner.
