Admission requirements
The regular MD primary is submitted through TMDSAS. A complete application includes the primary and fee, Vashisht secondary and $75 fee, no more than three individual evaluations or a health-professions advisory committee packet, an official MCAT with no pending score and not older than five years at enrollment, transcripts sent to TMDSAS when requested and a green-card copy for permanent residents. Coursework may be planned at application but must be complete before matriculation. Requirements
The school requires at least 90 semester hours at a fully accredited U.S. or Canadian institution and prefers a bachelor's by enrollment. Courses must earn at least C: eight hours general biology with labs, six advanced biological sciences including three biochemistry, eight general chemistry with labs, eight organic chemistry with labs, eight general physics with labs, three math-based statistics and six English. MD overview Requirements
The MCAT is part of holistic evaluation and cannot be more than five years old at enrollment. The page's illustrative accepted-year examples are stale, so no exact earliest test date beyond the five-year rule is asserted. A current regular-MD CASPer or Duet requirement could not be confirmed: the requirements page mentions those assessments only in a comparison clause for rare applicants without a degree. Requirements
Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible. Applicants timely seeking permanent residency may receive consideration only if they can provide the required official status at application/interview and before enrollment. U.S. citizens or permanent residents with foreign education must complete the specified 90 hours or a bachelor's at an accredited U.S. institution; accredited Canadian education is eligible. By state mandate, no more than 10% of enrollment may be non-Texas residents. International policy MD overview
Important dates
For Entering Year 2027, the school publishes: application available May 1, 2026; interview period July 20, 2026-January 15, 2027; MD application deadline October 1; rolling acceptances October 15-January 29; and TMDSAS Match Day February 12, 2027. The secondary and $75 fee are due November 1, 2026 at 5 p.m. Central. MD dates Requirements
TMDSAS says submission opens May 15, evaluation letters should arrive by October 15, school-preference rankings are due January 29, 2027 at 5 p.m. Central, applicants must narrow multiple offers by April 30 and schools cannot offer a Texas applicant holding another Texas seat after May 15. TMDSAS dates
The school's general apply page retains a March match and other older generic milestones. Those are not used because the MD program page and TMDSAS explicitly label the current Entry Year 2027 dates.
How selection works
Vashisht uses holistic review of experiences, attributes, backgrounds, academic record and MCAT to select interviewees. It seeks strong intellectual readiness plus ability to communicate and interact, social and healthcare awareness, service orientation, compassion, empathy, maturity, integrity and motivation for medicine. Admissions overview Apply
Interviewed applicants are evaluated by the Admissions Committee, which creates a ranked list of acceptable applicants and has final responsibility for selection. The school publishes no numerical weights, screening formula, interview scoring anchors or voting threshold. Admissions Committee
Interview details
Confirmed current policy
The current MD FAQ says interview is required and that invitation follows holistic review of a complete file. Each applicant receives two individual 30-minute interviews conducted virtually through Zoom. The interview provides another measure of traits associated with a competent, empathetic, compassionate and responsible physician. MD FAQ
The cycle-explicit MD page puts the Fall 2027 interview period at July 20, 2026-January 15, 2027. MD dates
Not published or cycle-confirmed
The separate apply page labels the same virtual format as 2023-24 and says interviewers may be faculty or student committee members and faculty or administrator guests. Because those role details are not cycle-labelled, they should be confirmed in the invitation. The school does not publish current file access, question structure, scoring rubric, interview weight or committee voting method.
Who this program may suit
The regular MD is one distributed program anchored in Bryan-College Station, not four campus admissions pages. All students complete early pre-clerkship work in Bryan-College Station. Post-admission tracks include all four years in BCS through AIM, or transition from BCS to Houston, Dallas or Round Rock. Campus-track preference and assignment do not create separate regular-MD applications. MD program and tracks
Applicants should connect Texas A&M's service orientation and statewide structure to concrete experience, while keeping special programs separate. EnMed is a distinct engineering-medicine track in Houston; MD/PhD, MD Plus and early-assurance routes also have additional contracts and are excluded from this page.
Practice and next step
Record a 90-second response showing service through a measurable action. Review it for the decision you made, the other person's perspective and what changed afterward. Improve one weak section, record a second response and compare evidence and empathy. Then repeat the loop with a story about repairing a difficult interaction and a concise reason for the regular distributed MD rather than borrowing EnMed or dual-degree features.

Structured Interview Essentials
Build a repeatable spoken-answer loop across five common structured-interview skills: fair decisions, ethical reasoning, using feedback, teamwork under pressure, and explaining your motivation. Record each response once, choose the weakest one, review one observable weakness, and answer it again with one deliberate adjustment.
