UdeM DVM admissions: Fall 2027

For Fall 2027 entry, Université de Montréal has published the veterinary medicine deadlines, prerequisite routes, French-language expectations, campus capacity and category-specific selection rules. Academic results and Casper carry the regular 80/20 selection weighting; an in-person French interview is discretionary for some applicants, while other categories have a defined interview stage. Start with an original Videoath Casper response, review one weakness, and record a better second attempt.

Quick facts

Admission requirements

Applicants must meet one of the official education routes and the program's science prerequisites. The page lists eligible Quebec diplomas, prerequisite combinations and university-degree routes; the applicable route depends on prior study. UdeM DVM requirements

The program is not offered to international applicants holding a study permit. French admission requirements apply, and all candidates must complete Casper for the current admission term. UdeM DVM requirements

Some categories, including the farm-animal practice profile, Indigenous applicants and applicants seeking second-year entry with an eligible foreign veterinary degree, have additional or different requirements. Read the category that matches your situation before applying. UdeM category rules

Important dates

Applications for Fall 2027 open August 1, 2026. The application deadline is November 1, 2026 for applicants with university study or study outside Quebec and March 1, 2027 for applicants with only Quebec college study. UdeM Fall 2027 dates

The separate deadlines to satisfy the French requirement are November 15, 2026 for university or outside-Quebec applicants and March 15, 2027 for Quebec college-only applicants. UdeM Fall 2027 dates

Casper must be completed before the official deadline for this admission term, added to UdeM's result distribution list, and cannot be carried to a later term. Confirm the available test date on the official Casper page before booking. UdeM Casper guidance

How selection works

For college, university and francophone-outside-Quebec applicants, UdeM combines the academic record at 80% and Casper at 20% to establish a global score and selection list. The faculty may require an in-person French interview for some candidates based on Casper performance, and that interview may be eliminatory. UdeM DVM selection criteria

The farm-animal practice profile and Indigenous categories use the same 80/20 academic–Casper screen before a separate interview stage; final ranking in those categories is based on interview results. Foreign-trained candidates seeking second-year entry use an 80/20 written-exam–Casper score, with a possible discretionary interview. UdeM category selection

Use only the pathway that applies to your category; the interview is not a universal stage for every Fall 2027 applicant.

Interview details

Confirmed

For regular college, university and francophone-outside-Quebec applicants, UdeM may call selected candidates to an in-person French interview based on Casper performance; the interview may be eliminatory. The farm-animal practice profile and Indigenous categories have a defined interview stage after the academic–Casper screen. UdeM DVM selection criteria

Not published

The current Fall 2027 page does not publish a universal interview date, duration, panel composition, question format or scoring rubric. Because an interview is discretionary for regular applicants, prepare first for the confirmed Casper stage and follow any invitation instructions for category-specific interview logistics. Who this program may suit

The UdeM D.M.V. may suit applicants seeking full-time French veterinary training in Quebec. Applicants select either the Saint-Hyacinthe program or a decentralized route with three years in Rimouski followed by two years in Saint-Hyacinthe. UdeM campus choice

The faculty says relevant exposure to veterinary settings across different practice sectors is an important asset because it helps applicants test their career choice and comfort working with animals. That is program guidance, not a separate published score. UdeM DVM remarks

Practice and next step

Original Videoath practice: record one video response to Fair access under pressure. Use the confirmed Casper job: identify the people affected, ask what information is missing, balance consistency with empathy, make a defensible decision, and explain it respectfully.

Review the recording for one observable weakness—such as jumping to a decision before gathering facts or failing to explain the trade-off. Make one adjustment, answer the same prompt again, and compare the two attempts. Continue with the recommended CASPer Essentials Path because Casper is a confirmed, weighted Fall 2027 selection requirement.
