Admission requirements
Required work is two semesters each of English, general or inorganic chemistry with lab, organic chemistry with lab, general biology with lab and general physics with lab, plus one semester of biochemistry without a lab requirement. Courses must be completed at an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution and generally within five years of applying, except English. Fall 2027 requirements Online lectures and labs from accredited U.S. or Canadian schools are accepted.
Applicants need 3.0 undergraduate overall and science GPAs as calculated by AADSAS. The current page publishes an exception for applicants with at least 18 graduate credit hours or two full-time graduate semesters. DAT or CDAT is mandatory without waivers; Buffalo has no minimum AA or subsection score, but prefers 370 on the new DAT scale or 17 on the old DAT/current CDAT scale. Only tests from 2024-2026 are accepted, and October 15, 2026 is the recommended latest test date.
Submit one committee letter or three individual letters. The school describes 75-100 shadowing hours as a reasonable expectation, not a fixed minimum. International applicants may apply, but only U.S. or Canadian academic credits count toward admission. Non-native English speakers need the published TOEFL evidence unless the stated degree or Canadian-province waiver applies.

October 15, 2026 is Buffalo's recommended latest DAT/CDAT date. The completed, verified AADSAS file, transcripts, letters, official test scores and $100 fee or waiver are due December 1. Decisions begin in December under ADEA's December 15 notification date. Final interviews occur by the end of February 2027, with decisions concluding in spring or summer. The current TOEFL section mistakenly labels its December 1 deadline as 2025; use the main Fall 2027 completion deadline and flag the typo.
How selection works
Buffalo conducts rolling full-file review and offers interviews as opportunities become available. After interview, the Admissions Committee reviews the application and interview evaluation and votes on the file; decisions begin December 15 and continue through summer. Application instructions
The school says interview timing does not create a rolling-order advantage among interviewees and that it does not prioritize New York residents. It does not publish numerical weighting, screening formulas, vote thresholds, post-interview categories or wait-list ordering.

Buffalo sends the detailed format only to invited applicants. Number and length of conversations or stations, interviewer roles and file access, prompts, assessed domains, scoring rubric, quantitative weight and on-site schedule are not public.
Who this program may suit
Buffalo's published contract combines recent science prerequisites, a 3.0 GPA floor, test evidence and substantive dental exposure, while accepting both DAT and CDAT.
