Why the physician assistant profession?

Practise explaining why the PA role fits your experiences and goals. Review whether you distinguish the profession clearly, use specific evidence, and connect your motivation to patient care; then record again with a sharper answer.

Quick facts

  • Degree: Master of Physician Assistant Studies; 28 months and 95 credits; Orem, Utah; maximum entering class 30. Official program
  • UVU’s current accreditation page says ARC-PA Accreditation-Continued. The ARC-PA history linked by UVU has not yet incorporated the June 2026 final-provisional action and still shows the prior Provisional status and June 2026 review; verify the updated commission history before relying on the status. How selection works

UVU does not use rolling admissions. Qualified applications receive holistic review of academics, verified care experience, leadership, service, and recommendations. The first-pass review awards additional points for long Utah ties, veteran status, and first-generation status; the 2026–27 cycle also reserves at least five seats for nonresidents. Interview details

Confirmed

UVU’s public schedule includes an interview-invitation stage and candidate interviews. Official program

Not published

The exact January 2027 interview dates, modality, exercise structure, duration, evaluator roles, prompts, scoring rubric, and quantitative weights are not reliably published. The schedule lists September interview dates but later rows in the same block still refer to a January 2026 cohort, so this guide does not assign those dates to the January 2027 cycle.

Who this program may suit

UVU may suit applicants seeking a January-start Orem program who already have substantial verified patient-care or health-related experience and can show sustained service, leadership, or regional connection. Official application requirements Official experience requirements

Practice and next step

Record one response explaining why the physician assistant profession fits your goals. Review whether it uses specific evidence from your patient-care experience and service, choose one weakness to improve, then record the answer again and compare both attempts.
