Admission requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents and either qualify as Washington resident students or meet at least three of four Washington ties: born in Washington; a Washington childhood address; graduation from a Washington high school; or a parent or guardian currently living in Washington. For Entry Year 2027, the childhood-address tie requires at least six total years in Washington between ages 8 and 18. There are no exceptions to the residency-or-ties and citizenship gates. One exact undergraduate GPA and MCAT percentile combination is also required: GPA 3.80-4.00 with MCAT at or above the 27th percentile; GPA 3.40-3.79 with MCAT at or above the 43rd percentile; or GPA 2.60-3.39 with MCAT at or above the 61st percentile. Select medical, clinical or basic-science graduate work may be considered case by case using a parallel graduate GPA matrix; Fall 2027 requires at least 18 semester hours of science graduate coursework for that route. The highest eligible composite MCAT is used. Scores from January 2023 through the final September 2026 test date are eligible. Once the secondary is returned, GPA and MCAT are masked for the remaining process.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution is due July 15, 2027, with a terminal-doctorate exception when the doctoral program did not require a bachelor's. Prerequisites, each four semester hours with lab and grade C or better, are biology, organic chemistry and physics. Online and community-college courses are accepted. Transcripted AP, CLEP and IB may count. Pass/fail or credit/no-credit normally does not count, except pandemic-affected work in 2020-2022.

Applicants need three individual letters or a Health Professions Advisory Committee packet in AMCAS before receiving a secondary. Letters should be current, signed and on letterhead; family or friend letters are not considered.

Important dates

AMCAS opens in early May 2026, submissions begin in late May and verified applications begin reaching schools June 26. The final AMCAS deadline is October 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, with no extensions. The secondary and $50 fee are due December 1 at 5 p.m. Pacific; the fee is waived for AAMC Fee Assistance recipients. Entry Year 2027 timeline

Interviews run August 2026-February 2027. Rolling initial offers run November-March. Plan to Enroll opens February 19, 2027; the waitlist is communicated in early to mid-March and may produce offers through August. Applicants should narrow to three acceptances by April 15 and one by April 30. All prerequisites and the required degree are due July 15. Welcome Week is August 17-21 and classes begin August 24, 2027.

How selection works

After the unmasked academic and eligibility gates, two independent screeners review AMCAS, the secondary and letters with GPA and MCAT hidden and make interview recommendations. A third review resolves directly conflicting screen decisions. Mission-aligned evidence includes experience with communities facing major barriers, connection and commitment to Washington, motivation for medicine, service, clinical exposure and experience beyond the classroom. After the virtual interview, two trained Admissions Committee members independently review the application packet and six MSI assessments using mission-aligned rubrics. A committee member presents the reviews, the committee discusses the applicant, and each member enters a confidential score. The mean becomes the Committee Score used to build the rank list. The school does not publish the rubric anchors, component weights, score threshold or waitlist formula.

Interview details

Confirmed for Fall 2027

All interviews are virtual and use a Mixed Structured Interview. Applicants complete two live, structured traditional interviews lasting 10 minutes each. One interviewer is an Admissions Committee member and the second is another trained interviewer who may also be a committee member. Both are closed file. Applicants also complete four live-recorded responses: a moderator presents a scenario or behavioral prompt, the applicant responds within three minutes, and trained raters score the recordings later. The moderator does not clarify, ask follow-ups or assess the response. This produces six independent assessments. Full-day attendance on a selected Monday or Friday is required. Timeline
