Admission requirements
Applicants need a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution, GRE scores, minimum cumulative undergraduate and prerequisite GPAs of 3.2, prerequisite grades of C or higher, 80 hours of qualifying clinical experience, and three specified recommendation letters. Experience completed only to satisfy another course or degree requirement does not count toward the 80 hours.
WVU says hours beyond 80 do not add preference by themselves, but hands-on care and greater decision-making responsibility receive more weight in final selection. WVU requirements · WVU selection

How selection works
WVU compares eligible applicants with the current pool for interview selection using cumulative undergraduate, science, and prerequisite GPAs plus GRE verbal and quantitative scores. The final published rubric adds West Virginia residency, the average score from two interviewers, CASPA and WVU-specific writing, and the quality and relevance of healthcare experience. The Admissions Committee makes final decisions for 25 seats. WVU application process · WVU selection

Who this program may suit
WVU may suit applicants who want a small January-start cohort at an academic medical center and can demonstrate strong academics, GRE performance, and meaningful clinical responsibility. West Virginia residents receive explicit preference, and healthcare experiences involving assessment or independent judgment receive more selection preference than observation alone. WVU selection
Practice and next step
Record a 90-second answer explaining why the PA profession fits your goals and how one qualifying clinical experience changed your judgment or contribution to care. Review whether you distinguish observation from responsibility and connect the example to WVU's mission. Record the answer again with one sharper decision point, then compare the two attempts.
