Admission requirements
WesternU's Fall 2027 checklist requires a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 and a science GPA of at least 3.0 at application, maintained through matriculation. Prerequisites require C or higher and must be complete by the end of spring 2027; summer courses immediately before matriculation are not accepted. No more than two of upper-division biology/life science, microbiology, upper-division physiology and genetics may remain in progress after December 31, 2026. Courses must be approved in WesternU's prerequisite database. Fall 2027 checklist
The most recent posted CVM catalog lists organic chemistry with lab, biochemistry or physiological chemistry, upper-division biological/life sciences with lab, microbiology, upper-division physiology, genetics or molecular biology, physics with lab, statistics, English composition and humanities/social-science study. It also states 300 hands-on animal-related hours at application and 500 by matriculation; applicants should recheck these catalog-derived requirements against the live prerequisite database. Three evaluations must reach VMCAS by the deadline. International candidates are eligible; the current checklist requires TOEFL for non-U.S. citizens whose second language is English, with an exemption for a completed U.S. bachelor's or higher degree, and requires evaluation of non-U.S. coursework. The checklist publishes paper/computer TOEFL scores but not a current iBT conversion. Fall 2027 checklist
Important dates
WesternU opens its Fall 2027 DVM programme in VMCAS on May 7, 2026. VMCAS, transcripts, recommendations and every required item are due September 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern; late material is not processed. Prerequisites must be finished by the end of spring 2027. Current application page
Interview days generally occur in late fall and may extend into early spring. The school does not publish exact Fall 2027 interview dates, decision dates, deposit deadline or orientation date on the current admissions page.
How selection works
WesternU first checks minimum application requirements, then sends eligible files to reviewers who typically include college faculty and other graduate veterinarians. The current candidate profile says review considers academic preparation, community service, interpersonal skills, recommendations, understanding of veterinary medicine and compassionate client and animal care. Current candidate profile
Selected applicants interview on campus. Candidates who pass file review and interview enter an acceptable pool; the dean, associate dean for academic affairs and admissions-committee chair select the class from that pool. The school does not publish component weights or a numerical rubric, and acceptable-pool placement does not assure an offer. Current application process
Interview details
Confirmed
The current Fall 2027 application page says interviews are on campus in Pomona, generally in late fall and sometimes early spring. Each candidate is interviewed by one college faculty member paired with another veterinary professional, which may be a second faculty member, alumnus or veterinarian in public or private practice. Current application process
Not published
The current-cycle application source does not publish exact dates, interview length, number of questions, prompts, file access, assessed domains, scoring anchors, weighting, accommodations or whether any part is recorded. A DVM 2030 guidebook describes an earlier cohort and is not used to fill these Fall 2027 gaps.
Who this program may suit
WesternU may suit applicants who want a four-year, problem-based DVM curriculum in Pomona with small-group learning, early animal contact and a distributive community-based clinical model. The programme emphasizes communication, collaboration, self-directed learning and a reverence-for-life philosophy. Current DVM overview
This is one canonical WesternU College of Veterinary Medicine DVM in Pomona. It is separate from WesternU's osteopathic-medicine, dentistry and Oregon-campus programmes. WesternU's current accreditation page lists the CVM as accredited and notes a 2026 next evaluation; it does not publish the result of that future/ongoing evaluation. Accreditation page
Practice and next step
Record a concise response about feedback that changed how you approached an animal-care, research, service or team responsibility. Review whether you state the feedback, your adjustment and the result clearly, then record a second attempt that reaches the change earlier and removes repeated setup.
